Dental Examination
Dental exams and cleaning: We recommend bringing your child to our office every six months. This allows us to monitor your child’s oral health, and allows a dental hygienist to remove any tartar buildup that can lead to cavities and tooth decay.

Teeth Cleaning
We strive to provide care to the whole family including kids of all ages. We recommend children start getting used to the dentist early in life, as soon as the first tooth erupts, to help avoid any fears later on. This can be as simple as just letting us look in your young child’s mouth after the parent’s regular cleaning or having your older child in for an exam and cleaning. The ADA recommends having your child see the dentist by the age of 1 – and we at Southbridge believe that’s a great way to start your child on their way to a lifetime of optimal oral health.
Fluoride Treatment
Fluoride treatment: Fluoride is applied to the surface of the tooth and helps harden tooth enamel, making teeth more resistant to acid. We recommend applying a fluoride varnish as soon as the first tooth erupts, and then at least another 3 times before the child reaches the age of 3.
Dental Sealants
Sealants: typically done on young children to adolescents. Sealants are a preventative measure to help stop cavities from forming. A thin composite material is placed on the top surface of the tooth into the fissures to prevent bacteria and acid from pooling in high-risk areas. This procedure is very straightforward and no numbing agent is needed.

Root Canal Treatment
A crown is a cap that covers the tooth and may be needed due to: severe caries (decay), fracture, failed or failing existing restorations, to protect the tooth from fracture, after root canal therapy or for a combination of reasons. It generally takes two visits to complete the crown and a temporary crown is used while the permanent crown is being fabricated. A bridge is used to replace a missing tooth. It is a crown on each of the remaining teeth with a fake tooth in the space between.

Before dental implants, there were no fixed solutions available for people who lost their teeth. Today, we can replace an entire mouthful of missing teeth with implants for each tooth — for permanent, stable and natural-looking results — or with a bridge or partial denture anchored to implants.

Dental Implants
Never handle the tooth by the root. Never brush or scrub the tooth. Never sterilize the tooth. If there is any debris on the tooth, rinse it gently with water. If the person is conscious and alert, try to re-implant the tooth by having them gently bite down on a handkerchief or towel. If you are unable to reimplant, place the tooth in cold milk. If cold milk is unavailable, wrap the tooth in saline-soaked gauze. If that, too, is unavailable, then place the tooth under their tongue if they are alert and conscious. If not, place the tooth in a cup of water. Immediately bring them and their knocked-out tooth to Southbridge Dentistry in Littleton, Colorado.
