Primary Care
Dr. Baumfalk received his Bachelor of Science (Biology) and Bachelor of Arts (Psychology) from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. He graduated with honors from Southern College of Optometry in 2003. He then completed a Primary Care residency at Nova Southeastern College of Optometry in 2004. He joined the Lincoln Vision Center and Wahoo Vision Center in 2004 and is past President. He currently serves patients at both Lincoln Vision Center and Wahoo Vision Center.

Macular Degeneration
Patients sometimes suffer eye dystrophies, diseases, or degenerations that don't currently require treatment but need to be monitored carefully for unwanted changes. Our clinic is staffed and equipped to monitor such disorders, examples of which would be diabetic retinal changes, macular degeneration, and various types of corneal dystrophies. Should conditions take an unwanted turn, close co-management with appropriate tertiary providers will be arranged.
Laser Eye Surgery
CRT is an FDA-approved, non-surgical means of eliminating myopia (nearsightedness) and astigmatism. It’s safe and fully reversible, making it an ideal option for athletes who are too young for LASIK. It works by wearing therapeutic lenses only at night while sleeping. The cornea (the clear part of the eye) is gently molded overnight and the lenses are then removed in the morning, resulting in clear, comfortable vision during waking hours.

Cataracts are a leading cause of vision loss among people ages 55 and older. We offer various cataract treatment procedures and will find the solution that fits you best.
Cataract Surgery
Eye Exam
Patients who wear or would like to wear contacts need to undergo a contact lens exam in addition to their comprehensive eye exam. The first contact lens test will measure the eye’s surface to determine what size and type of contacts are best for the patient. Our optometrist might also do a tear film assessment to ensure the patient has adequate tears to comfortably wear contacts.

Diabetic Retinopathy
People with diabetes are at risk of developing diabetic retinopathy, a major cause of vision loss. Because early diagnosis and timely treatment have been shown to prevent vision loss in more than 90 percent of patients, health care practice guidelines recommend an annual dilated eye exam for all people with diabetes. Studies indicate, however, that many people with diabetes do not get an annual dilated eye exam. An estimated 50 percent of patients are diagnosed too late for treatment to be effective.
