Family Practice
He joined the Cleveland Clinic in 1975 and was named chairman of the Department of Thoracic and Cardiovascular surgery in 1989. As CEO, Dr. Cosgrove presides over a $5 billion healthcare system comprised of the Cleveland Clinic, 10 hospitals, 15 family health and ambulatory surgery centers. Electrocardiogram
In order to screen for MRSA, the Pre-Admission Testing Nurse will need to swab inside your nose and your rectum. If you have an ostomy, the nurse will swab the opening of the ostomy instead of the rectum. At IOS, this will be done at the time of your pre-operative testing after your EKG is done or at the time you attend Joint Clinic. If you are getting your pre-admission testing done elsewhere, it will be done at that time. The culture swabs will be sent to the lab to determine if you are a carrier of MRSA. If they come back positive or you are considered to be "high-risk" for MRSA, you will be notified to get special medication and cleansing soap to be used 24 hours before your surgery. If the tests come back negative, no additional treatment will be necessary.

Dr. Whelton presided over the acquisition in 2008 of the system's second hospital, 250-bed Gottlieb Memorial Hospital, a community hospital three miles away. To alleviate congestion at the flagship, Loyola moved most of its obstetrics and gynecology services and part of its orthopedics program to Gottlieb. Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
Tom Edgerton D.O. joined our practice in September of 2019. Tom is board eligible and has completed an orthopedic hand and upper extremity fellowship at the University at Buffalo. Dr. Edgerton is currently scheduling patients in Lima, Findlay, and Van Wert. He specializes in hand and upper extremity surgery in adults and pediatric patients. Special interests including shoulder reconstruction, endoscopic carpal tunnel release and all areas of upper extremity trauma.

Dr. Altschuler has experience as an executive, physician and scientific investigator. He was chair of pediatrics at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine and joined Children's medical staff in 1985. A staunch crusader for children's health, Dr. Altschuler recently warned in a Children's Hospital publication about the growth of childhood obesity, asthma and autism, "There is a real need for healthcare professionals to focus on the quality of care, to redesign our systems so we can reverse that downward trend and start improving the healthcare of children again."

Before becoming CEO, he served as U.S. Assistant Surgeon General and was director of the National Institutes of Mental Health during the Carter and Reagan administrations. Dr. Pardes earned his MD from the State University of New York College of Medicine in Brooklyn and performed his internship and residency in psychiatry at Kings County Hospital in Brooklyn. Larry J. Goodman, MD (Rush University Medical Center, Chicago). Dr. Goodman, an internist, has been president and CEO of Rush since 2002. The organization consists of a 613-bed hospital and a medical school. In 2006 he began the "Rush Transformation," a $1 billion project to rebuild large parts of the medical center. The first step, an orthopedics building in partnership with orthopedic surgeons on staff, opened recently. A patient tower is now going up and the entire project will be completed by 2016.

Hand Surgery
Dr. Muha is a Board-Certified Orthopaedic Surgeon with subspecialization in disorders of the Upper Extremity. He is a graduate of Wright State University School of Medicine and completed his orthopaedic residency in Dayton, Ohio. He furthered his expertise with fellowship training in Hand and Upper Extremity Surgery through The Ohio State University. He additionally has earned Certificates of Added Qualifications in Hand Surgery, as well as Sports Medicine. Dr. Muha has extensive experience in arthroscopic shoulder repairs, management of arthritis in the hand, wrist and shoulder, including shoulder replacement, as well as operative and nonoperative management of fractures, tendonitis and carpal tunnel syndrome.

The institute is next door to the Orthopaedic Institute of Ohio, a group of 16 orthopedic surgeons, allowing comprehensive orthopedic services in one location. When Dr. Flynn began practicing in Baton Rouge in 1967, he was the only board-certified neurosurgeon between Baton Rouge and Shreveport and saw first-hand how Louisiana could benefit from neurosurgery. Dr. Otte is currently board eligible by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the Ohio Orthopaedic Society. He feels blessed to be able to fulfill his lifelong dream of returning home to serve the areaâ€™s small communities. He has a special interest in pediatric orthopaedics where he treats a multitude of conditions including fractures, sport injuries, patellar instability, shoulder instability, hip dysplasia, hip impingement, clubfoot, limb deformity, cerebral palsy, and scoliosis. Beyond his pediatric population, Dr. Otte provides comprehensive orthopaedic care to patients of all ages including adolescent and adult patients through non-surgical and surgical treatment of general orthopedic conditions. Knee Arthroscopy
He specializes in sports medicine and the treatment of knee, shoulder, hip, and ankle injuries through minimally invasive surgical techniques. His clinical and surgical focus involves hip arthroscopy including labral repair and reconstruction, knee arthroscopy including ACL reconstruction, meniscus surgery, and management of patellar instability, shoulder arthroscopy including rotator cuff and labral repair, elbow arthroscopy, and ankle arthroscopy. Additional areas of focus include cartilage restoration procedures and joint maintenance/preservation through the use of orthobiologics including PRP (platelet rich plasma). He also manages adult and pediatric general orthopaedic trauma and provides operative and non-operative care of knee, shoulder, and hip arthritis including total joint replacement.

Dr. Quinlan came to Ochsner in 1998 as its chief medical officer, having been CMO at Lovelace Health Systems in Albuquerque, N.M. He holds an undergraduate degree in economics and a master's degree in health administration from the College of St. Francis in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Sports Medicine
Dr. Copeland is originally from Findlay, Ohio, and received his medical degree from the University of Chicago/Pritzker School of Medicine in Chicago, Illinois. He served his orthopaedic residency at the University of Chicago Hospitals and decided to complete an additional year of advanced training in sports medicine and arthroscopic surgery. During this year, his training was focused solely on sports-related injuries at Baylor Sports Medicine Institute, where he served as assistant team physician for the Houston Texans, Houston Astros and the University of Houston Cougars. His extensive medical experience makes it possible to provide the best orthopaedic and sports medicine care.
Physical Therapy
In addition to the appointment with your surgeon, arrangements will also be made with you for an appointment(s) for any necessary physical therapy (PT) or rehabilitation. You have a choice as to where you want to have your physical therapy. Wherever you choose to have your PT, the rehab team will monitor your prescribed exercise regimen and assist you in re-building strength. They will help you every step of the way and get you back into enjoying your daily living.
Occupational Therapy
Ancillary Services and Testing If physical or occupational therapy has been ordered, a therapist will come to your room for your therapy session. If your physician has ordered blood work, the laboratory personnel will come to your room to obtain your blood draw. If an x-ray is needed, the x-ray personnel will come to your room to take your needed x-ray.
Manual Therapy
Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy Rehabilitation Services includes both Physical and Occupational Therapy. General Podiatry
Dr. Hensley is a native of Columbus, Ohio. After completion of his undergraduate degree at Miami University in Oxford, he attended medical school at The Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine (former, now Kent State University College of Podiatric Medicine). He then completed an extensive foot and ankle residency at St. Ritaâ€™s Medical Center in Lima, Ohio. He spent an additional year of fellowship training at Foot and Ankle Specialists of Ohio, focusing on reconstructive surgery and limb deformity.
