The Allen Company was formed in 1939 and has worked in central Kentucky for more than 60 years. The business operations are made up of asphalt paving, grade and drain projects and concrete work. In addition to construction jobs, the company also operates quarries in Madison and Jessamine counties in Kentucky and asphalt plants in Boonesborough, Danville, Berea and Lexington, Ky. The Allen Company operates two limestone quarries. The first, Boonesborough Quarry, opened in 1939 and the second, The Lexington Quarry, opened in 1966. In addition to providing limestone, the quarries are also essential to the four asphalt plants that are operated by the company.
