Eyecandi Hair Salon

I can appreciate "blondecatty's" well thought and articulate statement about the salon in question. After all, this is what she is PAID to do…write good reviews anywhere and everywhere she can (about eyecandi). Unfortunately, I would much rather hear a review from a paying customer. I am well aware that blondecatty is Marie Carter's sister that receives free cuts and tans. BUYER BEWARE! Is my caution to any other patron considering visiting this establishment.

During my two visits I was insulted by the owner herself, and asked to wait outside in the heat as the building was sprayed for pests; then to top it off the darn haircut was CROOKED! I’ve heard of asymmetrical cuts, but this was ridiculous...with not so much as an offer to fix it. COMPLETELY UNPROFESSIONAL!!!!!

I believe in flukes, so I gave Ms. Carter another try. Boy that was a bigger mistake than my first visit. Its been years since I was in high school, but for some reason I was transported back while listening to Ms. Carter and her apprentice/receptionist fire off a multitude of obscenities directed at particular townsfolk that had in her own words "P*ssed her the F*** Off" . The situation couldn't have felt trashier if I were posted on top of a trash heap.

As I sat in this chair the second time (praying her anger didn’t come out through her scissors) I spent most of my time gazing at her portfolio type collages on the walls. I then noticed that every single one of the people in these pictures had the SAME haircut/style. The same exact one that Ms. Carter sports herself. I don’t know about you, but I prefer variety to choose from ;-)

Leesville is a very small town with old values; word of mouth is very important to us locals. I was warned, by THREE separate women, before my appointment to cancel it. I can't say I was not warned....consider this YOUR warning :-)

Marie Carter (stylist and owner) did my hair for years while I lived in Louisiana. I followed her to different salons until she established her own salon. Marie took considerable time designing a modern and stylish establishment. It is a small town salon, with a luxurious feel. You will not feel like you are still in Leesville while pampering yourself at Eyecandy.



Some complaints about Eyecandy is the cost and lack of appointments. From my experience, Eyecandy is not more expensive than other local stylists. Even if the prices were higher, sometimes you have to pay for quality. Marie does exceptional work. If for some reason you are unhappy with Eyecandy’s services, Marie takes every measure to ensure her clientele is happy and leaves the salon looking and feeling fantastic.



As far as the appointments, I personally would not want to see a stylist who is not busy. Marie is booked because she has hundreds of return clients and many referrals due to her unique capabilities.



If I ever move back to Leesville, I will definitely again be a client of Marie's.



*** I wrote my original review in June 2008. I had not logged on in sometime and just read the other review referring to MINE! I am not Marie's sister and in no way related to her. I am in the Army and was stationed at Ft. Polk for 6 yrs. When I wasn't deployed, Marie was my stylist. If you look at my other reviews, they are from everywhere else I have lived.



I stand by my review of Marie's salon. She is an exceptional stylist and I would love to live closer where she could still do my hair.
