Mechanical Air Conditioning

These guys have always provided me with fast service at a fair price. They recently came to my house on a Saturday when I was having some troubles with my ac. Came 1 hour after I called and had me back up and running in no time. Didn't even charge me overtime for the weekend visit.

I reside in a PUD that Mechanical Air Conditioning System Inc. services. I had contacted this company in the past and was not too happy with the outrages fees for parts and service calls. The compressor to a new a/c unit was replaced. They charged me over $500.00 USD to simply install the compressor. At the time I had no idea this was a high price to pay because I thought I was paying for the compressor and the labor. I think the technician took no less than an hour to install and drain the system. Few months later the blade to my fan was not turning. Another technician showed up and informed me that a part needed to be replaced, however, he was not carrying the part in his work van but that he can install a similar part that will work just fine. I agreed, it was during the summer and the previous night I slept in my bathtub just to keep me cool. The technician ended up charging me for almost 2 hours for the service call at $68.00 per hour plus the parts. I though he was insane ! I could see him from my living room area behind the driver side of the van on the cell phone. I finally approached him and ask whether everything was alright. He responded "yes, I was talking to my boss" and slips me a bill for close to $300.00 USD. After arguing with him for 10 minutes or so, he agreed to remove an hour for the service call worht $68.00. I was not happy at all. Here I was paying for something that will probably break down months down the road because it was not even the part that needed to be installed. Well guess what. 5 months later the part broke, I called the company on a Saturday and a few hours the same technician who installed the prevous part was standing in front of me. The technician tells me, this is the part that needed to be installed the first time I was out here. He finally installs it, the a/c blade starts to turn, he goes back to his van speaks with his boss and slips me a bill for close to $200.00 USD. What ! I said, I am not paying for this ! You should have done this right the first time.. He tells me, well I will remove the part now. I had no choice but to cut him a check for $184.00, ($68.00 for the serivce call and the rest for the part.) What a rip off !



The next day, I found the receipt from the previous work conducted on July 2008 and the same technician noted, that the part was warranty for one year ! Hello, are you guys high or something or do just have no choice in life than to scam people ! I paid for the same part twice and ended up paying 2 hours at 68.00 per hour for a service call that should have taken no longer than 15 minutes.



Nice enterprise you guys are running. You guys did not even attempt to rectify the situation. Where is my refund you crook !



I spoke with the president of our homeonwer association. He mentioned that EAST COAST services air conditioning units and that they are affordable and at times do not charge for diagnostics or service call. When they do charge for service calls is $39.00 dollars or something. They are located in Boynton Beach. Their number is 561.637.1234.
