Pet dental care at Monarch Veterinary Hospital sets us apart. One of the most commonly overlooked and most important areas of maintaining your pet’s good health is oral and dental care. Approximately two-thirds of everything diagnosed by a veterinarian in a pet 6 years or older is related to disease of the teeth and gums. A regular regimen of care for the teeth and gums can dramatically extend the life of your pet. Monarch Veterinary Hospital recommends preventive care as the key to maintaining your pet’s long-term oral health.
Vaccination
The professional staff at Monarch Veterinary Hospital is happy to set up a comprehensive plan of routine veterinary wellness exams, vaccinations, and parasite prevention and treatments specifically tailored to your pet, considering your pet’s life stage and unique lifestyle. These regular exams are critical, as treatment is much more successful and far less expensive when health conditions are identified early. Older pets, age 10 years or more, should have an exam at least every six months that includes screening laboratory diagnostics to find early organ failure before it can be detected clinically. By seeing your pet regularly, we build a strong and deeper relationship with you and your pet.
Comprehensive Examination
At every wellness examination, our veterinarians will perform a complete hands-on physical examination of your pet and take a thorough history from you. We will test for intestinal parasites (some of which are a potential threat to humans, especially young children) and heartworm disease, as well as look for evidence of ticks and fleas and prescribe the best preventives to protect your pet in his or her specific environment and lifestyle.
Monarch Veterinary Hospital operates a full-service in-house veterinary pharmacy for your pet. In addition to medications, we provide prescription diets, heartworm preventives, and flea control products. When your pet’s medication needs to be refilled, we offer two convenient choices...
Pain Management
Monarch Veterinary Hospital takes the management and relief of pain in the pets we care for very seriously and we strive to excel at it every time. Whether your pet is acutely injured, recovering from a surgical procedure, or suffering from the pain of osteoarthritis that comes with age, pain management can improve his or her quality of life.
Stem cell treatments use adult stem cells from the animal’s own body to decrease the pain of osteoarthritis and orthopedic surgery and can significantly improve your pet’s condition and comfort
Heart Disease Treatment
Monarch Veterinary Hospital uses advanced monitoring equipment during every surgical procedure. Your pet’s electrocardiogram (ECG), pulse oximetry, and non-invasive blood pressure monitor (NIBP) are observed moment to moment. We also make sure body temperature is well maintained by thermal support. Intravenous (IV) electrolyte fluid support is provided for every surgical patient.
Tooth extractions are one of the most important veterinary dental procedures. Because we can clearly evaluate your pet’s teeth by X-ray, we are able to diagnose unseen problems. Tooth extractions, if required, will prevent further pain and suffering, and extracting some teeth from a pet requires oral surgery if it is done properly. Dental X-rays are taken after the extraction to confirm that the entire tooth root has been completely removed. Then we take the time to reshape the bone before suturing the gingival tissue. Local nerve blocks using long-acting anesthetic agents are given so your pet will have a much more comfortable recovery.
Veterinary Surgery
Monarch Veterinary Hospital is a full-service veterinary hospital offering most of the veterinary medicine services your pet needs. Whether your pet needs high-tech diagnostic procedures such as digital X-ray or ultrasound, intensive care, complex surgery, or routine general surgery such as a spay or neuter, we are ready to provide the services they require.
Dr. Bissonnette will meet with you before a procedure to discuss expectations, desired results, and blood work. Every pet is given a full physical examination so that we know as much as possible before surgery. Monarch Veterinary Hospital’s veterinary technicians monitor anesthesia and assist during the surgery. Dr. Bissonnette also makes it a priority to follow up with you and your pet after surgery. These pre- and post-op meetings are very important to him and for your pet’s well-being and recovery.
As pets age, arthritis may be a factor making them seem slower and less able to do the things they love. We can help with pain management. Older pets can be helped with the use of ongoing daily medications such as non-steroidal anti-inflammatory products that will relieve pain and help with mobility. Dietary supplements can help both cats and dogs. At Monarch Veterinary Hospital, we can do much to ease your pet through the senior years. A very recent mode of treatment is Regenerative Stem Cell Therapy using your pet’s own stem cells to very effectively treat chronic osteoarthritis. Please make sure to talk with us about your senior pet’s comfort at your next appointment.
