MRI

Computed Tomography
X-Ray Medical Group, Inc provides excellence and professional service in CT (computed tomography), sometimes called CAT scan at our various locations throughout San Diego. Our CT scan uses special x-ray equipment to obtain image data from different angles around the body and then uses computer processing of the information to show a cross-section of body tissues and organs.
Chemotherapy
Chemoembolization is a way of delivering cancer treatment directly to a tumor. The liver is the most common part of the body for chemoembolization to be used, although it can be performed in other organs as well. Under X-Ray guidance, a small catheter is inserted into an artery in the groin. The catheter's tip is threaded into the artery in the liver that supplies blood flow to the tumor. Chemotherapy is injected through the catheter directly into the tumor and is mixed with particles that embolize or block the flow of blood to the diseased tissue. Because the majority of the chemotherapeutic agent is trapped inside the tumor, patients generally experience less systemic side effects than are associated with conventional chemotherapy (ie. no hair loss).

Kevin T. Bui, M.D. graduated from Saint Louis University in 2013. He completed a residency in Diagnostic Radiology at the University of California, Irvine where he served as chief resident. He completed a fellowship in Vascular and Interventional Radiology at the University of California, San Diego and performs a wide variety of interventions. Dr. Bui has particular interest in venous disease, complex IVC filters and uterine artery embolization.

Neurointerventional procedures use state-of-the-art devices and image-guided techniques to deliver treatments through a small puncture in the skin of the groin or the arm.

A brain AVM is an abnormal connection between the cerebral arteries and veins, bypassing the capillary system, and located within the brain parenchyma. Although many AVMs are asymptomatic, AVMs in the brain can cause headache, bleeding, and lead to other serious neurologic problems, such as seizures. AVMs can be treated endovascularly with embolization using liquid embolics, such as Onyx and n-BCA. Alternatively, they can be treated by open surgery, or by gamma knife radiosurgery. Sometimes these lesions are treated by a combination of all three of these therapies.
