Un-happy in GA.

Since American purchased my former trash company, I have received horrible service. I'm not sure why they bothered investing in a company for "the customers" if they decided to give such lousy service that the customer base FIRES them.

Initially they forgot to pick us up numerous weeks- great excuse... "You had the old DAVIS trash cans." Well... Duh ... THAT is the company YOU bought here in GA!

You would think your workers would know the route! ...And, if the "OLD COMPANY" can, with the "OLD COMPANY" logo, is out ...num nuts ... pick it up. Because YOUR company never came around and gave NEW ones- idiots.

Next they changed us from our Monday to Friday pick up. I chose my past company so I could have my weekend trash gone and start fresh on Monday. So I am sad I have a Friday pick up ... but I can deal with it.

HOWEVER...

My Friday pick up, ON A WEEK THAT MONDAY is a "HOLIDAY," is never picked up that week. I get a MONDAY pick up ...10 days later....TEN DAYS later... that's right...10 days of stinky trash!!!!

So the policy that if it is a holiday week ... our day rolls by one day. It is THREE ... THREE extra days of not being picked up if you have a regular Friday pick up!!! (Neighbors must have love seeing my trash can out Friday, Saturday, Sunday AND Monday! - Anytime there is a "bank holiday." )

4th of July Monday ...probably won't be picked up till next Monday. Called today (Friday July 8, 2011) and they PROMISE I will be picked up tomorrow ...we have been told THAT before- rolls eyes.

I am DONE ... no pick up tomorrow ... I FIRE them!!!!

I have always paid my trash company in advanced, 6 months at a time. Luckily I am paid through July and we are DONE.

This company is HORRIBLE!!! They bought out our old company which was great. When I moved it took me 6 weeks for them to pick up their trash cans and give me new ones at the new location! And those Trash cans at the new location smelled like rotting meat when they dropped them off, so i had to clean both of them.

So at the new location they would come sporadically once or twice a month and sometimes it would be either the trash guy or the recycle but hardly ever both. After numerous calls to the call center I find out that the drivers put a complaint on me stating that I was a "Trouble account." Basically b/c I didn't put out my trash every week so they thought it was okay to come by when they wanted? I found this out after 6+ calls to complain. I told them I pay them to come regardless of if my trash or recycle is out, their job is to check on it and that's what they are paid to do.

Now they sent me a random bill for $15 to my old address and said it was for a partial unpaid month? I pay 3 months at a time, how do I get a partial unpaid? Well I paid it and then they tell me it is credited to my old address and will not be credited to the new address like it is supposed to be, or like I was told because the accounts are supposed to be linked. So now they send another bill to my new address and tell me the bill is due in a week. Out goes another check and then they tell me I owe a $10 finance charge b/c they didn't process my check fast enough!

PLEASE do not use this service, they are a scam. Let them go out of business like they deserve. You've been warned.....

I would give them ZERO stars if I could. They have THE WORST customer. I was with them for about 10 month and then switched to a different (cheaper) provider. I cancelled over the phone and was informed of the $20 admin fee to close my account. I find that very upsetting but since I couldn't get a real explanation I just went with it. I'd save the money anyway with the new provider. :) I was also promised a refund check for the pre-paid money.

3 weeks later I receive a phone call that I'm subject to a 1-year contract and that I would still owe them money. However, they had already picked up their trash cans. So they want you to PAY FOR A SERVICE THEY DON'T PROVIDE. I find this not very customer friendly.

So I have them to bring my Trash cans back out so I can use them. The only POSITIVE side is that my new provider Cycleworks in Woodstock, GA had NO PROBLEM with postponing my service so I don't pay double. Now that's customer service. Thanks Cycleworks..and bye bye American Disposal..

I called in today to setup a new account. Not only were they $5-8/month MORE than any other service in the area, they said I owned a past bill from when they bought out Liberty. When I questioned it, she got very rude and irate with me.
I informed her I NEVER had an account with American. When she asked for a date I cxled w/Liberty, I gave her an approximate and she said they took over 2 yrs before that (Which was long before I lived in my current residence). So not only did they LIE to me, and accuse me of owing for something I didnt, they are charging a much higher price. Now I am doubly glad I did not switch after reading other reviews.

I despise this company. They bought the trash pickup route that I'm on from Waste Management. As soon as they took over things went to crap. They would leave junk sitting in the trash can, leave the trash can tipped over in the middle of my driveway, and randomly just not show up to pick up my trash. On top of that, their bill pay is horrific. They won’t let me set up auto pay without snail mailing them a voided check (I don’t use checks or any type of paper), which is unbelievable in the year 2014 as every other company I do business with lets me setup auto pay online in a matter of minutes.

I switched to Waste Industries after dealing with this terrible company for a month. After 4 enjoyable months with Waste Industries I get a letter in the mail saying that American Disposal bought my pickup route from Waste Industries and they are going to start picking up my trash next week! I CAN’T ESCAPE THIS HORRIFIC BUSINESS!

Our family used REPUBLIC for several years, and this company sold their business to American. The first week our can was emptied as scheduled. The second week it was not picked up. I called the next day and the operator/customer service rep told me that he would send a message to the driver, and/or a driver in the area, to pick up the trash the next day, Friday. It was not. This morning, Monday, I was told that a clear message to the drive, describing exactly where we are located, would be sent to the driver and that my Trash would be picked up on Wednesday. Correction of this problem has required unnecessary time on my part, which I didn't mind too much until the trash was not picked up on Friday. I am uneasy about future service at this point. I am also disappointed to read in other reviews that they charge $20 for cancellation. What is this?
We didn't ask to be their customer. Would like to remain a customer, but it might be worth the $20 to move on if things in the future are anything like my experience to date. Fingers crossed that things get better!

Our trash can was slowly falling apart due to the employees horribly abusing it during pick-ups. Then one day they just decided to throw away our entire trash bin. Called their office, of course they had no records of it. The lady (Jessica?) said they would try to get in touch with the drivers to find out what happened. Never called me back, they are clearly just hoping I give up. I called them back, got the same lady on the phone, and was given attitude for checking up on the progress. Went online to share my experiences only to find that dozens of others had beat me to it.

Unfortunately it's not always easy or even possible to change service. Sometimes you only have one choice or the trash is included in an HOA package. They know this, and abuse this protection. Given enough time though, this company will run itself into the ground with service like this.

Looks like I am in the same boat as some of the reviewers below. This is the second week in a row that the recycle truck has skipped pick up. I don't know if we can wait another week as it is getting piled up on our driveway.

You can't even leave a phone message after hours! The message on the phone says they are on 4th of July holiday - geez, at least change your message.

Just switched from American Disposal to Freedom Disposal. American' pickup service was fair, but customer no service was horrible and hostile.
American just raised their pickup fee to 23 per month, while Freedom charges only 15. That's almost 100 per year difference. To quote an old New Zealand sheep farmer's adage, "You can fleece a lamb many times, but you can only skin it once."

the worst business I have ever dealt with. NO CUSTOMER SERVICE. No stars from me. The trash is in there offices. They miss pickup dates. Cut services and did not lower pricing. Customer service is useless, if you get them on the phone. No email replies.

The WORST. They have not picked up the trash or recycle in a month today. I have emailed of course no one picks up the phone. This morning, I literally watched them pass by my house and not pick up my trash.
I pay them quarterly.so they have my money, but for sure looking someone reliable.

1. Lied about bringing a dumpster. 2. Horrible service. More missed pickups than on time.
3. Told them in April to come get their trash dumpster and its been a month....they refuse to come get it! I will no longer be responsible for it!

The worst customer service ever and their fees just keep going up and up. They charged me for an extra pickup (large item) in advance. They never picked up the item and told me that the pickup charge was applied to my due balance for service. Then, on the next bill, the charge for the non-pickup was back. I was told that they would not refund the amount because I didn't call right away. I had already been told the pickup charge was not used as a pickup charge and I had to get rid of the item on my own. Plus I owe them $60 for nothing. DO NOT USE THESE PEOPLE.

Trash has not been picked up in 2 weeks. I was told to leave my can out and they would get it. instead I get another fine from my HOA for having my can out, No Truck. I Set it out on a off day as the representative said they would send a truck... AGAIN no truck, just another fine.
American disposal is charging me and NOT doing their job

Refuses to put trash cans back where they were placed and insists on placing a bin on each side of my driveway, limiting my space to backup in my driveway and blocks my mailbox. I reported this at least three times which has apparently upset them. My neighbors trash cans are replaced correctly. Next time, I'll cancel service and request a refund for the remainder of the term. Beware of prices....they employ a rate increase every few months. Started at $39.....now I'm at $65.

We've had American since they started service in our area off Blackwell and have gotten great service. They are on time and put our cans and our neighbors cans back where they were originally placed. If they drop any trash, they pick it up. My wife even saw them pick up a dead squirrel and toss in the truck last week. Our can got broke once and was replaced with one phone call. Not sure why there's such a difference in services.
