Overall

I found myself homeless after becoming disabled and exhausting my saving. I had no place to go and ended up having to stay at the Salvation Army in Johnson City, Tn. I do not remember the older white guys name who is at the window, but I have never been treated so worthless when I was down by such a mean and heartless person. You think of the Salvation Army as a good and kind Christian place. A place that will lift you up in your time of need. Instead, I was treated like I was totally worthless and that they (the ones running it) did not care one bit for those of us who found ourselves there and in need. It was just a job to them, with no meaning or purpose, other then a pay check for them. I have donated to the Salvation Army a lot over my life time, but after seeing how the money is used to hire uncaring people. I would never ever give to them again nor support them in anyway whatsoever! Then too, they have a black man named Sam who is very predjudgidice against white people, especially ones who are little different from another culture like I am. The other blacks there bullied me, beat me up, etc...all while Sam allowed it. The things this place is, allows, does, and acts like, is totally unhuman. There truly needs to be a place for people to go that they can feel safe, lifted up, and encouraged. This place and the people running it are utterly appaulling. I pray that maybe a higher director, along with Gods hand can either change the staff, or close it and open a place of God.
