Our goal is to offer quality orthopedic care available to each patient. Therefore, we work with over 140 health plans, including Aetna, AvMed, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Florida, CIGNA, Humana, Medicare, Medicare Replacement Plans, Auto, United Health Care, and most other insurance programs. If you are enrolled in a managed care plan, we will make every effort to work with you and your primary care/referring physician in order to satisfy the requirements of the plan.Â JOI and JOI Rehab also participate with several Workers’ Compensation programs.
Family Practice
JOI Rehab has announced a new program to “fast track” back or spine patients. With Fast Track, patients with back pain or a spinal injury can come to physical therapy directly. They simply need a prescription from a primary care or family practice doctor. Â This new program will allow patients to start physical therapy quicker. In many cases, they can begin physical therapy without a prescription.
Emergency Care
Athletic trainers must also work under the direction of a physician and within their state practice act. Athletic trainers have a background in: acute care and assessment of injuries and illnesses; exercise physiology; anatomy and physiology; kinesiology; biomechanics; nutritional aspects of injury, pathology of illness, pharmacology, psychosocial intervention and referral; strength training and reconditioning; therapeutic exercise and rehabilitative techniques; and therapeutic modalities. They possess the added skills necessary to evaluate injuries on the field and determine if the athlete needs to be transported to the emergency room, seen in the office by a doctor, or treated conservatively by the athletic trainer at the school.

Endoscopy
The hand and wrist have small joints that work together to produce motion. Therefore one small problem in the hand can affect the easiest of tasks. Hand therapy is the specialization of evaluating and treating injuries and conditions of the upper extremity, which consists of shoulder, elbow, forearm, wrist, and hand. The Jacksonville Orthopaedic Institute has the most Certified Hand Therapists in the North Florida region. Dr. William Pujadas is a native of Jacksonville, Florida. He is a graduate of Bishop Kenny High School, Oxford College of Emory University and the University of Autonoma de Guadalajara Medical School. He completed his General Surgery and Orthopaedic Surgery residency through the University of Florida Jacksonville Hospital Education Program. Dr. Pujadas is board certified and a Diplomat of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery.
