Nutritional Counseling
Today, Hill's Pet Nutrition embodies a tradition of caring that began in 1939 with one remarkable veterinarian. Our mission is to help enrich and lengthen the special relationship between people and their pets. To do this, we make the highest quality pet nutrition available in our Prescription Diet? and Science Diet? pet food lines. We're also committed to the welfare of companion animals everywhere, and are actively involved in supporting the veterinary profession and shelters. In every aspect, we are making a difference for people and their pets all over the world.
Comprehensive Examination
Today's modern anesthetic monitors have made surgery much safer than in the past. Here at Northland Veterinary Services, we do a thorough physical exam on your pet before administering anesthetics, to ensure that a fever or other illness won't be a problem. We also adjust the amount and type of anesthetic used depending on the health of your pet.
Pharmacy: We maintain a complete inventory of pharmaceuticals, shampoos, flea and tick control products, and heartworm preventatives to meet the needs of your pet. We also carry a full line of prescription diets.
Pain Management
Anything that causes pain in people can be expected to cause pain in animals. Pets may not show the same symptoms of pain as people do; they usually don't whine or cry, but you can be sure they feel it. Pain medications needed will depend on the surgery performed. Major procedures require more pain relief than things like minor lacerations.
Under the microscope, and examined for bacteria, yeast or mites. If a bacterial infection does not respond to the first antibiotic therapy...
Ear Infection Treatment
We recommend a trial of food made up of proteins and carbohydrates that your dog has never eaten before to see if recurrent medical problems such as ear infections, skin infections, chewing at their feet, and anal gland problems could be caused by a food allergy.
Arthritis is a general term that simply means joint inflammation. It's a common problem for both dogs and cats. Arthritis is one of the most common sources of chronic pain treated by veterinarians. Often resulting from elbow or hip dysplasia, this painful joint disease can also be a result of the normal aging process, or due to accident and injury.
Thyroid Disease Treatment
Services per year. He also has opened a specialty facility in the Twin Cities for the treatment of feline hyperthyroidism with the use of radioactive iodine.
Heart Disease Treatment
Kidney Disease Treatment
We are all sad as we say goodbye to our beloved companion Toes. Toes has been battling with kidney disease for years and Dr. Brilla layed him to rest this September. Even though we will all miss him, we can find some peace in knowing that he will be reunited with his long time friend, Radar. Toes has always been a constant in our Clinic and in our hearts and we will miss him greatly.
Periodontal Disease Treatment
Periodontal disease starts when plaque; a mixture of bacteria and food debris, mineralizes into calculus. This process takes only 48 hours and once formed it cannot simply be "brushed away". The calculus leads to gingivitis (infection of the gum) and periodontal disease; that left untreated can result in the loss of bone and eventually teeth.
We provide a broad spectrum of diagnostic procedures through in-house testing and the use of external laboratories. We also work closely with specialists in orthopedic surgery and internal medicine when special diagnostic and therapeutic procedures are required. The facility includes a well-stocked pharmacy, in-hospital surgery suite, in-house x-ray capabilities, a closely supervised hospitalization area, and indoor boarding kennels with outdoor walking areas.

After completing his residency in the Twin Cities he went on to become board certified in large and small animal surgery. In 1995, Dr. Kobluk and his family moved to California where he worked as a full time professor helping to develop the veterinary school in Pomona. He also worked for the All Care Animal Referral Center in California until returning to Minnesota in 2001. He then persued further education by becoming a board certified orthopedic surgon, specializing in TPLO surgery. Dr. Kobluck joined the Affiliated Emergency Veterinary Service team in 2004 and travels through the upper midwest region performing orthopedic procedures at various clinics. He has also had 2 articles published in JAVMA regarding orthopedics and is awaiting publication of 3 additional articles.
Spaying and Neutering
. Neutering does not make you pet fat or lazy. Too much food and not enough exercise is the main cause of obesity.
We offer two levels of in-house blood testing before surgery, which we will go over with you when you bring your pet in. Dr. Brilla prefers the more comprehensive screen, because it gives her the most information to ensure the safety of your pet. For geriatric or ill pets, additional blood tests or x-rays may be required before surgery as well.
