We provide many preventative measures to keep your child’s teeth clean and healthy, including sealants and fluoride treatments. We also educate the parents in early detection of some common problems children may face, including thumb sucking, bruxism and baby bottle tooth decay.
Dental Sealants
The Dental Hygienist position provides dental hygiene care that not only provides proficiency in the technical aspects of dental care but also provides a thoughtful approach to educating patients about the importance of a healthy smile. This position puts patients at ease while practicing and performing excellent hygiene techniques including assessing oral health conditions, applying sealants and flourides, utilizing appropriate cleaning techniques, creating accurate impressions, taking and developing dental xrays and providing exceptional patient education. The Dental Hygienist also actively strives to ensure patient’s schedule appropriate follow up appointments.

Fillings
White fillings bond to the tooth and strengthen the tooth by restoring most of its original shape. Silver amalgams, on the other hand, weaken the teeth and make them more susceptible to breaking which can be very expensive to replace. White amalgam can actually save time and money in the long run.
Veneers
Veneers: Veneers are customized, thin shells made of porcelain or plastic that bond to the front of your teeth. They can give perfect shape and shade to existing teeth, hide stains and chips, and resist discoloration. They also strengthen teeth and provide resilience similar to tooth enamel.

A native of Hood River, Dr. Curtis Haynie has been in dental practice here since 2003. Dr. Haynie received his dental education from the Oregon Health Sciences University School of Dentistry. He started his career at the non-profit Creston Children’s Dental Clinic before starting up Hood River dental. Root Canal Treatment
A common misconception is that a root canal is an uncomfortable procedure. Actually, root canals are similar to having a cavity filled, producing minimal discomfort.

Periodontal Surgery
In certain cases, periodontal surgery may be recommended to treat periodontal disease when non-surgical treatment is ineffective. We may advise procedures such as pocket reduction, soft tissue grafts or bone regeneration using LANAP (laser assisted new attachment procedure), to treat periodontal disease. If a tooth has been lost due to periodontal disease, dental implants are always an option for permanent tooth replacement.

Dentures
Dentures: Dentures are removable replacements for teeth and the surrounding gum tissue. High-quality, personalized, and well-fit dentures can restore your youthful appearance and confidence while improving your ability to eat and speak naturally.

Dental Implants
The root implant, by far the most popular, is the most effective because it mirrors the size and shape of a patient’s natural tooth. This implant is often as strong as the patient’s original tooth. The implant or artificial root is placed into the jawbone under local anesthesia, then allowed to heal and integrate with the bone. Once the healing process is completed and the jawbone is attached to the implant, the patient returns to the dental office where the implant is fitted with the new tooth. This process generally takes anywhere from three to eight months.
