Erwin's Broke Contract

We were return customers to Erwin's. We were happy with their work at one time. NEVER again. We received a bid to remove a tree on our property on July 25, 2014. At the time of the bid we were specific we did not want the company to use the neighbor's drive. We have had problems with them over the years and have just given up on them. One was convicted of using and dealing heroin, another has alcohol problems as well as documented problems at work involving other employees. We have tried to be tolerant but have chosen not to bother them. Russell Hodge understood and said job could be done without using their drive. We were also told by Russell there was a 4-6 week backlog. The estimate said 4 week backlog. We calked Erwin's on July 28, 2014 and accepted their bid. After 6 weeks and not a word we called to inquire where things were going. We received apologizes and were told they would get right on it. A week later the guy going to do the cutting showed up. He also said the job could be done without using the neighbor's drive using a bucket truck and crane. After he left we heard nothing for a week. I called Erwin's and was told I needed to talk to Russell. I was given Russell's cell phone number and I called, leaving a voice memo to return my call so we could get things moving. After 4 weeks I still had not heard anything!! On Oct. 23 I had a day off and called Erwin's. I was told they were waiting for me to call them! The secretary called Russell and he called me. I was outside so he left a voice memo. Having Comcast I was able to save and print the voice memo. It is dated Oct. 23, 2014 at 10:39am. Russell states, " we had talked about not using the neighbor's driveway to accommodate your request there and that we can do but the bucket truck does have to be backed up close enough into the front yard." I never had a problem with the bucket truck being in the front yard. Erwin's had done this before when we had then do other works on this tree. I called Russell back, we talked and things began to happen. We were finally getting called and schedules were set. The tree would be taken down on Nov. 13, 2014. On Nov.12,2014 my wife received a call from Gary Erwin telling her he called our neighbor, had a long talk with her and was not given permission to use their driveway. He then told her they would not do the job. He told my wife the neighbor had cried as they talked and he told my wife we had not been good neighbors. She was told we needed to speak to our neighbors, amend our ways and live by the Golden Rule as he does. He also quoted scripture to my wife. We have no idea what was said by this neighbor. However, Russell Hodge had spoken to this woman in late June, 2013 and in August, 2013 told us she said she was a paralegal. She works at a local big box department store. Just another example, of many, we have endured.I called Gary Erwin that evening. He said it was unfortunate that they had to abort the contract. I asked why. He stated a different reason than he told my wife. He also told my wife that the work could be done by climbing it but he wasn't going to do that. When I calmly said Russell and I discussed not using the neighbor's drive and it was fine he said, " sue me." I said I was going to talk to an attorney. At that point he became quite agitated and said I had interrupted him. I listened to him and when I started to speak he hung up on me.Something very strange is going on with the owner of this company. We would like to know what this neighbor has said about us and why we were judged without getting a chance to tell our story. I guess Mr. Erwin has a different Golden Rule than the rest of us. His own employees whom he has entrusted to work with the public agree that the job can be done. We have phone reco...

I believe that this arborist is being confused with Russel Tree Care in DeMotte who never came out THREE times. This arborist came right out and was very knowledgable. Thank you. It is Russell Tree Care in Demotte who is not coming out EVER and makes lousy excuses as to why he can't come out. Erwin is excellent. :-) A Crown Point Mama

Erwin don't tree care

I own a iot of land and I'm trying to get houses built. All I needed was a $18,000 dollar iot job done and Erwin tree care didn't show up for a free estimate. So I called JC tree, he showed up the next day, and got the job done in two weeks. So if your looking to get tree work done (DO NOT CALL! Erwin tree care. Thay won't even show up for an estimate. Thanks JC tree you did a wonderful job!
