Glaucoma
Glaucoma is a group of diseases that cause progressive and irreversible damage to the optic nerve. It is known as the â€œsilent thief of sightâ€ because symptoms most often don’t occur until damage is done. Fortunately, glaucoma is highly treatable if detected early.
Macular Degeneration
Macular degeneration â€“ The macula is the light-sensitive tissue located in the center of the retina at the back of the eye that provides sharp, clear, straight-ahead vision. Macular degeneration is a progressive eye condition that affects millions of people around the world. This debilitating disease robs people of all but the outermost, peripheral vision, leaving only dim images or black holes at the center of vision, but it rarely results in complete blindness.
Laser Eye Surgery
LASIK (Laser Assisted in Situ Keratomileusis) is a pain-free, surgical procedure that uses laser technology to correct refractive errors such as nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism. Refractive errors prevent the eye from focusing light properly and prevents you from seeing clearly.

Cataract Surgery
Refractive Lens Exchange (RLE) refers to replacing the natural lens of the eye with a medically engineered intraocular lens (IOL). These lenses are designed to correct nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism, in addition to presbyopia, the age-related loss of near vision. These lenses are the same as used in laser cataract surgery, the highest volume and most proven surgery performed in the United States.

Diabetic Retinopathy
Diabetic retinopathy â€“ When the blood vessels in the back of the eye become weakened and damaged, it causes swelling or leakage of blood in the eye. This is called diabetic retinopathy. There are two types of diabetic retinopathy: non-proliferative and proliferative. Non-proliferative Diabetic Retinopathy (NPDR) is caused by fluid from existing blood vessels in the retina leaking into the macula, causing it to swell. This can lead to blurry or cloudy vision. In more advanced stages, Proliferative Diabetic Retinopathy (PDR) sets in, and new blood vessels form in the retina. These irregular blood vessels can cause damage by leaking blood into the vitreous. If untreated, PDR can potentially lead to retinal detachment.

Ultrasound
Your Procedure Day takes place at our own outpatient surgery center and includes relaxing intravenous medication under the care of an anesthesiologist. The procedure uses both ultrasound and laser to place your new lenses, taking less than 10 minutes per eye to complete. You are with us for about 2 hours and will then be driven home for your “nap”!
Radiology
When you get services from an in-network hospital or ambulatory surgical center, certain providers there may be out-of-network. In these cases, the most those providers may bill you is your planâ€™s in-network cost-sharing amount. This applies to emergency medicine, anesthesia, pathology, radiology, laboratory, neonatology, assistant surgeon, hospitalist, or intensivist services. These providers canâ€™t balance bill you and may not ask you to give up your protections not to be balance billed.

Since the opening of Inland Eye Specialists Surgery Center patients have been enthusiastic about being able to have their surgery performed outside the hospital! Our patients appreciate the efficiency of the surgery center and the friendly staff. Modern advances in cataract surgery and other ocular procedures have made hospitalization generally unnecessary. The 2,500+ annual surgeries performed at Inland Surgery Center include surgery for cataracts, glaucoma, strabismus, and corneal disease. We also perform cosmetic eyelid surgery.
