Blue Mountain Elementary School

This school is quaint, has nice teachers, and a spiritual atmosphere. However, we want the best for our children, and this place just wasn't it. We believe God's standard is the standard we should use in all areas of our life. He is in heaven preparing the best for us, we want the best education for our children, and unfortunately there is better elsewhere.

Both of my children attended and graduated from BME and really enjoyed their educational experience here. Both were well prepared for high school as well as being balanced in their social, physical and spiritual development. In addition the emphasis on Christian principles has contributed to their being well grounded spiritually even in to young adulthood.

I'm writing my first review...and in strong favor of BME. This is a great school. My children are receiving fantastic education, but the whole concept goes so much further than a basic education. I know. I'm an professional educator. I would never have felt the need to review BME, but I've learned that one negative parent has been busily spreading her negativity. I know who it is, that she's posted at least twice on this page (under two different names), and that she was directly responsible for creating the majority of her perceived problems last year. Now she's moved on. If you want the truth, ask some parents whose kids enrolled at BME, or visit the school and see for yourself. BME is one of the "best kept secrets" in the Hamburg area.

Students that have graduated from this school have demonstrated strong skills in leadership, study habits, and have done well when compared to students taking the Iowa test of Basic Skills. Unfortunately this school has had a core of parents that wanted to control all facets of the program which caused great disruption. With experienced staff, a smaller, less agenda driven board, and this core of disgruntled parents gone, BME is once again able to focus on impacting the lives of its students.

Blue Mt. SDA Elementary School lacks the quality that we seek for our child/children's education. We have many concerns about the school and our experience there has been negative, so to best meet our expectations for a school, and give our child/children the best educational opportunity possible, we have selected another educational institution.

We would advise you to give careful consideration of your school choice for your child's education.

This is an awesome school. BME is nestled in the hills of the Blue Mountains, has excellent teachers, values high academics, and offers a loving, nurturing learning environment. Our son has excelled here, academically and spiritually. We are so thankful for this special school and look forward to watching all three of our kids grow up here. In response to the faithfulparent review, our experience with discipline issues has been effective and proper, there is an organized hot lunch (my son likes it very much), and the issue of second language happens to be something the school is currently considering, and not just for older kids...starting with Pre-K.

Do not send your child. This school lacks organization in many areas. Specifically, there is no second language program, no regular organized lunch program, and the discipline policy is not clearly defined or followed.
