Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
8. Curbing Carpal Tunnel Carpal tunnel is a painful condition in which the median nerve that connects the forearm and hand becomes pinched at the wrist, according to the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke. Symptoms include burning, tingling or numbness in the palm, thumb and middle fingers. It can also lead to difficulty forming a fist or gripping small objects. Treatments usually consist of medication, wrist braces and surgery. But a study in the Journal of Bodywork and Movement reported that carpal tunnel patients receiving regular massage had less pain, reduced symptoms and improved grip strength.
Neurolysis
Nerve Blocks, followed by Radiofreqency Neurolysis (RFN) are longer-lasting treatments for people who find joint injections helpful. RFN provides an average of 6 to 12 months of pain relief. Viscosupplement injections and Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injections offer long term relief that may last for up to six months. They may take 4 to 6 weeks to reach full effect.

The rehabilitation of low back problems occurs in several phases. During the acute phase, physiatrists will perform a detailed and comprehensive evaluation to ensure the diagnosis. He will order the appropriate diagnostic test and order blood work if necessary. He will provide the patient pain medications and develop a physician supervised treatment plan which treat the pain and inflammation. Treatment options are varied but may include ultrasound, moist heat & electrical stimulation, massage, hydrobed, mobilization, medication, and even specialized injections.In the sub-acute phase or recovery phase of treatment, The physiatrist attempts to improve flexibility and strength by implementing a structured and medically supervised stretching and strengthening exercise program aimed at decreasing pain and improving quality of life. The goal of this phase is to get you back to your usual work, and leisure activities.The main goal of the third phase of treatment, the maintenance phase, is to minimize recurrence of the problem and to prevent further injury. This often consists of a total body fitness program, designed to maintain body mechanics and increase endurance after the original symptoms have resolved. and a home exercise program to ensure continued pain relief.

Head and back injuries from a car wreck are typically the most serious. Head injuries can lead to vision problems, skull fractures and concussions. Spinal Stenosis â€“ A narrowing of the nerve openings either around the spinal canal or nerve roots that can cause symptoms similar to a pinched nerve. It can cause leg pain in anyone, but most often does so in older people. Patients with spinal stenosis can have trouble walking, and standing and pain relief with sitting down or bending forward. It can cause aching or heaviness in the back and legs.

Commonly referred to as or PRP therapy, platelet rich plasma therapy uses the patientâ€™s own blood to heal injuries.The fact that it comes from the patientâ€™s body reduces the risk for an allergic reaction or transmissible infection.
