Overall
Fairway ford, not very fair or...

Fairway ford, not very fair or honest at all!

I used this ford service shop less than a year ago to replace a PCM board in my truck. After paying 500.00 for that, the truck still had issues, wasn't running good so I had only put a little over a 1000 miles on the truck in the past year since the board was supposedly replaced, when the engine lights came back on. I dug out my receipt, called Fairway and found that the PCM board was still under warranty. So I told them that the errors the Engine light is reporting, is saying that all 4 sensors I replaced last year are all of a sudden bad. I also told them that the top reported fix, was to replace the PCM board (I got this information by using a diagnostics tool). So I took the truck to them, within an hour they call me and give me the engine error codes and try to tell me the 4 sensors are bad. I told them I didn't think they are bad since they had been replaced not long ago. So since the sensors were aftermarket brands, they claimed it needed the motorcraft brand. Fairway insisted they needed to be replaced and the PCM needed to be reprogrammed ($700.00). I told the service writer Paul, that I would replace the sensors myself and he could reprogram the PCM board, an 89.00 service charge for this. so I had no choice but to order 4 motorcraft brand o2 sensor(a $400 cost).I installed these o2 sensors, cleared the engine light and the engine light instantly came back on and reported out the same error codes it was getting. So it's now cost me 500.00 out of my own pocket to prove to Ford the PCM board is bad. I took the truck back to Ford, this time it took them from 9am-5:30pm to call me back, to report they felt the problem is the PCM board which they would replace. Obviously they were trying to find any other excuse to use to try to suck more money out me. Oh and not to mention when he called, they found another leak and tried to talk me in to letting them fix it for 400.00. I checked this out myself, and the leak wasn't engine coolant as they claimed, but simply moisture off the exhaust manifold and the problem is a broken bolt on the exhaust manifold. I say that because when they realized they had to replace the PCM board, they tried some other way to make some money to cover their cost by feeding me a leaky engine coolant story. Fairway tried to take me for a very expensive ride with a smile on their face. If they did that to me, WATCH OUT, if you really don't have any mechanical experience. One final comment, Fairway also denied me a refund of the 89.00 spent to reprogram the bad PCM board that these yahoo's claimed it need, when the board needed to be replaced. Their excuse for not refunding my money, was that the previous aftermarket o2 sensors reported codes out that they couldn’t understand…REALLY!!! I checked the engine codes and they were same with the aftermarket sensors as with the motorcraft. I will not deal with them again; I will go way out of my way to use another Ford service shop if needed in the future.
