Clelian Heights School for Exceptional Children is a private, nonprofit, educational, residential and vocational facility for children and adults with developmental disabilities. Founded in 1961, it is licensed by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania through the Departments of Education and Public Welfare. The school operates a preschool that serves children between the ages of 3 to 5. Clelian Heights School for Exceptional Children offers academic programs in art, computers, home economics, reading, mathematics, music, physical education and religious studies. It additionally provides instruction in life, listening and personal care skills. The school also offers programs in science and social studies. Clelian Heights School for Exceptional Children provides physical and occupational therapy services to students. In addition, it offers a four-week extended school year program that includes various social and recreational activities, as well as functional academics. The school provides several enrichment activities, including Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, bowling league, community outings, dance performances and Special Olympics that include bowling, golfing, skiing, swimming, and track and field.
