Professionalism

This is one of the most unprofessional practices that I have ever visited. Louise the PA that briefly peeked in my nose and mouth and then diagnosed my chronic sinus problems as the result of acid reflux from too much coffee and chocolate. She explained that acid reflux can’t be felt, no heartburn needed. She also told me not to take otc heartburn meds long term and that was all she offered. I asked if that was it and she said she could schedule a CT scan “if I wanted one” - no explanation given. I don’t know what a CT scan is, what it would do for me, etc. and I certainly don’t know if I need one or not.

I got out of there as fast as I could. I paid them hundreds to find out what is causing my sinus problems but instead got a half assed gastro-intestinal diagnosis. Save your money and go elsewhere. The office staff is rotten to the core.

They will be happy to have you come in knowing you dont have insurance so that they can get a visit fee and schedule surgeries and tests and preops and tell you that you probably have cancer to cancel your surgery because you dont have insurance. Pretty sure do no harm doesnt mean anything to them. If you use these money grubbing fear mongers make sure you go over your bill and dont let them schedule 5 things in 2 days to turn around and tell you too bad and hang up on you.

Overall
Not helpful in giving me all options

My appointment was with Jefry H. Rosen, M.D. In all honesty, this appointment was pretty awkward, it seemed as if he was nervous to talk to me for some reason. I'm a young, attractive lady so that may be the reason, but I was more comfortable saying things to him than he was to me, it was weird!! But, I made an appointment because I had concerns about tonsil stones and I arrived that day WITH tonsil stones. After Rosen looked at my tonsils he said he saw none, even though I saw them myself with a handheld mirror before coming that day AND I could definitely feel them because my throat was scratchy/sore. He was trying to tell me that my scratchy/sore throat was because I had acid reflux due to too much caffeine and chocolate intake!!?? I don't drink sodas or coffee and I hardly eat any chocolate, I have pretty healthy diet!! (I know for sure my scratchy throat was from tonsil stones because I coughed the tonsil stones out the day after my appointment and my throat started feeling better.) Even though I kept pushing the fact that I always get tonsil stones and wanted to know my options for dealing with them, he said I have 2 options: just deal with them (remove myself) or have my tonsils removed... I was tired of "dealing with them", which is why I set up this appointment in the first place, so I scheduled the tonsillectomy surgery, since I thought that was my only option... I later did my research on the tonsillectomy and was mortified of all the reviews about how bad of a surgery it was. I couldn't believe that this provider, who thought I didn't even have tonsil stones to begin with, said the only option I had (other than dealing with it) was to go through this unnecessary surgery and painful 2-3 week recovery. From my research I discovered there were much better options for tonsil stone situations like mine, like laser resurfacing, which is said to be a quicker procedure done under local anesthesia and the recovery is a sore throat for only a few days!!! Now why the in the world would this provider not tell me about this option!!??? My guess is because he doesn't do this type of procedure and only wanted my business. Well, since his only concern was to get my business, I have found my business elsewhere :-)...... Also, during my appointment, I had concerns about thyroid disease, because it runs in my family and I wanted to get everything checked out with that and Rosen told me I needed to go to another doctor to get things checked out with my thyroid??!!!! If I'm not mistaken the thyroid is part of the THROAT, he had an informative poster on his wall about the thyroid, and he's an Ear, Nose and THROAT doctor!!??? In a nutshell, this was a very strange and unhelpful appointment. I will never be returning to this provider since my health and concerns did not seem to matter!!

Love Dr Shoemaker!

Dr Shoemaker was awesome with my child! Couldn't ask for a better dr. The only problem is that it took me a month to get my child back in when he had a problem. I called back and begged for something sooner, shouldn't have to do that.

I highly Recommend Greensboro ...

I highly Recommend Greensboro ENT. They have been so great with my daughter. They work with you on your schedule. They are so child friendly. I have never been to a doctor or specialist where they are determined to make your child happy and not be upset and scared.
