Ragtime Consignment Clothing

In October 2014 I brought 19 designer clothing items, in excellent condition, to consign. I specifically said that I did not want them donated to charity. I will pickup items that don't sell. I called 2 days before the final pickup date to make sure that they would not be donated. I said i'd come pick them up now. The owner said since winter is late, leave them longer. I asked her to call when she would like them picked up; when she began stocking spring and summer clothes. I had not heard from her, so the first week of February, I called her and went to get the unsold items. Imagine my surprise when I was given a check for $76 and two clothes items. I could not figure out her bookkeeping. I guess some items disappeared, some sold, some given to charity. When I said that we agreed no charity, her answer was that she didn't remember saying that and if she did say it, she was probably busy so it wasn't written down. And that was it. No more dialogue. I was dumbfounded and left. I have heard this from other people. I thought it was blown out of proportion. Guess not. Be careful.

Don't bring your things here to consign unless you really keep track. I had a bad experience and am really questionling her ethics. She lost an entire sheet of items I had dropped off and told me when I came to collect that nothing sold and she 'threw the sheet away'. I have no idea what sold or for how much, she offered me nothing.
