Overall

Bank of America Doesn’t have people servicing its clients, instead bank managers operate at the discretion of a computer. The banks systems are Cold and calculated as I found out this December. We operate a small business and we had multiple clients come up short or slow pay for the 30 days leading up to the discrepancy. (Very Rare) Scrambling to get funds in place we ended up $300 negative in our account at the beginning of the month. We were able to recover and get the account back to a normal financial buffer zone in about a weeks’ time. In the course of 10-14 days Bank of America had billed us $490 in fees and penalties for the $300 deficit. Thinking that a majority of this could easily be resolved by simply speaking to the branch manager we scheduled a time to meet. (3886 Plainfield Ave NE Grand Rapids MI 49525) I knew Jane the branch manager and the team from regular banking. I thought that we could work something more reasonable out for a total $300 negative balance that was resolved within 14 days. Their team knew all both our 5 and 7 year old boys right down to the color of sucker my youngest prefers. It was Christmas and certainly the team would take everything into account when determining a more realistic charge. My wife initially went in to meet with the bank and her literal tears were answered by cold calculated associates. Their response the computer says there is nothing we can do. What? We did not set up our account with a computer… we set it up with people that we thought we could trust. We were told that they would be business partners focused on helping us achieve long term business goals. This was why we choose to bank with them, Instead at the first opportunity to maximize profits the entire team acted as though they had absolutely no control. I do not do business this way, my family was devastated by Bank of America’s cold short term business practices. The $490 represented more than our struggling business was going to profit for December and took an already challenging Christmas for our family and made it much worse. I am ashamed to say I have done business with Bank of America in particular the team at the Grand Rapids Branch. Small businesses BEWARE they are NOT looking long term, just at how they can make the most money TODAY no matter who it hurts.
