The Beach Basket Shops, founded by Leslie and Julian Schmidtke in 1969, is one of the leading gift shops in the United States. Family-owned and operated, Beach Basket comprises Christmas Shop, Basket Nook and Garden Center. Open seven-days a week, the shop offers a wide variety of products, such as women's sportswear, kitchenware, baskets, nautical items, souvenirs, houseware, lotions and soaps, collectibles and men's gifts. Its Garden Shop features a large selection of perennials, trees, bedding plants and garden supplies. The garden shop also provides wicker furniture, wind chimes, decorative planters, garden gifts, decorative and nursery items, houseplants and weathervanes. The Beach Basket Shops has locations in Gig Harbor and Tacoma, Wash.
