We began taking our Samoyed puppy here once a week for socialization and exercise. Things seemed fine and the price was worth it. My husband picked him up one day and he was limping. He wasn't limping when we dropped him off. He asked the staff what happened and they had no clue as to why he was limping. We kept an eye on him for a few days, but after day 4 of no improvement, we took him into the vet. $250 later, we found out he had a BROKEN toe, needed to be on pain meds for at least 2 weeks and was put on cage rest for at least 2 weeks. This is a 5-month old puppy. Cage rest and pain killers? Not happy parents. He needed to go back for another xray, more painkillers and $180 more. He has a final checkup soon and we're looking at another xray, but hopefully no more costs than that.

I understand accidents happen anywhere, and that is why we sign all the papers. However, for the staff to have no idea how our puppy had a broken bone is unacceptable. I've spoken with two other dog daycares who were stunned at this because that is their JOB to watch them. The vet said that had to have been major trauma to actually break it.

He also caught kennel cough there (another vet visit and antibiotics $$$) as a 4-month old pup. This poor guy has been on so many meds and been to the vet more times than he should've had to.

100's of dollars later, our pup is healing and happy, but there is no way we'll be back or recommend Happy Hounds.

Overall

Happy Hounds was recommended by my vet so I signed my dog up for a 6 week training course. I attended one session and did not return. The place was very dirty and smelled bad. I own a small ranch with multiple animals and am not a shrinking violet about smells. There were literally piles and drifts of dog hair and a thick coating of dirt on every surface. I really didn't want to give my dog a down command and have her lay in the dirt that was everywhere. In addition, there was a large German Shepard in the class that was extremely dog aggressive. The trainer kept having us move around the room to practice commands in different areas. Every time this guy moved his dog the dog tried to attack another dog. My dog was constantly on guard and fearful because of this. The trainer stopped class to go get a large pinch collar to try to help the guy better control his dog, which did not help much. In talking with another dog trainer where I'm now taking my dog for training, she told me that she would never allow such a dog aggressive dog to stay in class, which I agree with. The trainer at Happy Hounds put all of our dogs at risk, possibly the people also, and we derived little value from the class given how fearful and upset all the dogs were. There are much better places to take your dog in the area. I would never take any dog to this facility for any of their services. They don't offer refunds, so I was out the $125, which I knew on the front end. They also never called me to find out why I didn't return.
