Dental Examination
A dental exam, including X-rays, will reveal if your teeth are impacted or will not grow in properly. Impacted teeth can lead to infection, decay of your surrounding teeth, gum disease or cysts or tumors from the follicle, which is the tissue which formed the crown of the tooth.

Fluoride Treatment
Fluoride should be used in a small amount on a routine basis, and it helps to prevent cavities. Fluoride facilitates “Remineralization” which helps the strengthening of weak areas on teeth. Fluoride is documented to be safe and highly effective. Fluoride is in dental products such as toothpaste, mouth rinse, gels, varnish, and supplements. Children under the age of 3 may not be able to spit out the toothpaste and as a result, they digest the fluoride. In this age group, non-fluoridated toothpaste or training toothpaste should be used, until the child is able to spit out the toothpaste.
Dental Sealants
Technology today has produced sealants, which work by filling in the crevasses on the chewing surfaces of the teeth. This shuts out food particles that could get caught in the teeth, causing cavities. The application is fast and comfortable and can effectively protect teeth for many years. Sealants are particularly effective in children, and may help them from developing cavities later on. Sealants are best suited for permanent first molars, which erupt around the age of 6, and second molars, which erupt around the age of 12.
Space Maintainers
Speech and appearance If your child loses a primary tooth too soon (either from injury or disease), the permanent tooth may not be ready to erupt. Consequently, surrounding teeth may "hog" the space left by the lost primary tooth, leading to problems later on when the permanent tooth begins to erupt. When primary teeth erupt out of their proper positions, this may lead to "malocclusion," which causes teeth to become misaligned, crowded, or crooked. Consult our office if you think your child loses a primary tooth too soon. In many cases, future problems can be avoided by space maintainers, which are appliances that hold surrounding teeth at bay. Once the permanent tooth is ready to erupt, the appliance may be removed.

Fillings
Resin Composite
Composite resins, or white fillings, are more expensive. While aesthetically appealing, they require a longer time to place and are not as durable as silver amalgam.
Veneers
Veneers - material placed over the front teeth to change color or shape of teeth. Veneers are used on teeth with uneven surfaces or are chipped, discolored, oddly shaped, unevenly spaced or crooked.
Crowns
Find the tooth. Handle the tooth by the top (crown), not the root portion. You may rinse the tooth, but DO NOT clean or handle the tooth unnecessarily. Try to reinsert it in its socket. Have the child hold the tooth in place by biting on a clean gauze or cloth. If you cannot reinsert the tooth, transport the tooth in a cup containing milk or water. See a dentist IMMEDIATELY ! Time is a critical factor in saving the tooth.

Pulpotomy
Pulp therapy is the treatment of infected nerves and blood vessels inside of each tooth. When a cavity is very deep it irritates the pulp tissue and causes pain, discomfort and as it progresses it becomes an abscess and infection. A crown is necessary when there is extensive decay, or loss of tooth structure due to trauma, or a tooth with pulpotomy. For front teeth, a composite (white) crown is used to match the color and for the back tooth, a stainless steel crown is used. The crowns do not contain mercury.
Root Canal Treatment
Left untreated, cavities can lead to more serious problems for your child, such as infection of the core of the tooth (pulp) or root canal, permanent deterioration, and even loss of the tooth itself.

Orthodontics
It is used to eliminate or reduce the malocclusion in young children. The example of circumstances requiring such intervention would be, thumb sucking and pacifier habit, cross bite, severe crowding, early loss of the primary tooth.
Braces
Typically, patients who suffer from bulimia nervosa have small, purplish-red lesions on their palate due to contact with objects used to induce vomiting. Silver fillings often become raised due to erosion of the teeth, and braces and temporary restorations may not stay on the teeth because the acid will dissolve the temporary cement used to keep these materials in place. Teeth may be discolored or look dull from the acid.

Cosmetic Dentistry
Cosmetic dentistry is an important part of overall dentistry. In some cases, people elect to have cosmetic dentistry performed on their children in order to improve their smile and overall appearance.
