Electrocardiogram
Our pre-admission teaching nurse will call you to review your medical history or set up an appointment for you to come in and meet with her. This usually takes place two weeks prior to your procedure. During your visit, she will gather information regarding your general health. You will be asked to sign a surgical consent and other necessary forms. If your surgeon has ordered any lab work, x-rays, or EKG, they will also be completed at this time. If you are unable to come in prior to the day of surgery, the nurse will take a phone history and the remaining items will be completed on the day of surgery.

If you are at risk for lung cancer, you may be eligible for a low dose CT scan. If you are between the ages of 55 and 77 years old, have smoked, on average, one pack of cigarettes a day for the past 30 years and are a current smoker or have quit within the past 15 years you should consult with your healthcare provider to discuss the need for this test. Research shows that this screening can help detect early lung cancer before clinical signs or symptoms become evident.

An ultrasound scan is a medical test that uses high-frequency sound waves to capture live images from inside the body. Having state-of-the-art ultrasound equipment, we can provide superior image quality. An ultrasound is used to see problems with organs, vessels, and tissues without needing to make an incision. The sound waves create an image of these structures and viewed on a television screen. Because ultrasound uses no radiation, it is the preferred method for viewing a developing fetus during pregnancy.
MRI

The in-house 1.5T magnet is one of the largest, widest bores available. Unlike x-ray or CT, MRI does not require the use of ionizing radiation. Sports Medicine
We are not only there for you before and after the game, but we are on the sidelines too with our Sports Medicine Coverage. An athletic trainer or physical therapist is on hand at every moment of the game to ensure quick attention to any game day injuries.
Physical Therapy
Patients are encouraged to use their new joints soon after surgery. Generally, patients begin standing and walking the day after the procedure. An exercise program will be designed by our physical therapy department. Most patients will utilize a walker, crutches, or cane until they are strong enough to ambulate independently.
Occupational Therapy
Post-therapy Summit is specifically tailored to athletes that have recently completed a long-term stint in physical or occupational therapy. This program focuses on bridging the gap between therapy and gameplay to reduce the likelihood of re-injury.
