Patients suffering from sleep disorders such as snoring, sleep apnea, insomnia, narcolepsy, and restless legs might benefit from a sleep study. The sleep lab (across the street from Carson Valley Health Medical Center) offers sleep studies performed in a comfortable, private room. The room is specially-equipped for monitoring your breathing, brain waves, heart activity, sleep patterns, and eye and muscle movements during the night. The healthcare team at the sleep lab, operated by Sleep Medicine Associates, can analyze the information obtained during your sleep study and will recommend treatments that might include restricting the use of certain drugs such as alcohol, caffeine and sleeping pills; special equipment for improving sleep; a weight loss program; or surgical intervention.

The da Vinci surgical system further advances the technology used in minimally invasive surgery. By enabling efficient access throughout the abdomen or chest, the surgeon is 100% in control of the robotic-assisted da Vinci System, which translates their hand movements into smaller, more precise movements of tiny instruments inside the patient’s body. Robotic-assisted surgery is used in specialty areas including gynecology, urology, thoracic and general surgery.

This noninvasive medical test helps physicians diagnose and evaluate symptoms such as pain, swelling, and infection. Ultrasound imaging, also called ultrasound scanning or sonography, involves exposing part of the body to high-frequency sound waves to produce pictures of the inside of the body. Ultrasound exams do not use ionizing radiation (as used in x-rays). Because ultrasound images are captured in real-time, they can show the structure and movement of the body's internal organs, as well as blood flowing through blood vessels.
MRI
Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is a noninvasive medical test that helps physicians diagnose and treat medical conditions.MR imaging uses a powerful magnetic field, radio frequency pulses, and a computer to produce detailed pictures of organs, soft tissues, bone and virtually all other internal body structures. The images can then be examined on a computer monitor, printed, or copied to CD. MRI does not use ionizing radiation (X-rays). The purpose of an MRI is to evaluate the internal organs and blood vessels to detect or monitor treatment for various conditions.

Mammography
CVH offers the most sophisticated digital 3D mammography equipment in the industry, which provides a high-quality image to the radiologist for an accurate diagnosis. Mammography is a specific type of imaging that uses a low-dose x-ray system to examine breasts. A mammography exam, called a mammogram, is used to aid in the early detection and diagnosis of breast diseases in women. We offer different types of mammograms to give patients their best chance for early, accurate diagnosis.
Computed Tomography
CT imaging combines special X-ray equipment with sophisticated computers to produce multiple images or pictures of the inside of the body. These cross-sectional images of the area being studied can then be examined on a computer monitor or printed. Using specialized equipment and expertise to create and interpret CT scans of the body, radiologists can more easily diagnose problems such as cancers, cardiovascular disease, infectious disease, trauma, and musculoskeletal disorders.
Chemotherapy
Cancer is an unpredictable and often aggressive disease, but it is treatable. Depending on your specific cancer type, our personalized treatment varies. Our main goal in cancer treatment is stopping the disease from spreading through removing tumors and using medication to destroy lingering cancer cells. Some of the treatments we offer include surgical tumor removal and chemotherapy. Treatment for cancer symptoms and side effects is also important, as cancer treatment doesn’t only involve killing the disease, but help with any damaging side effects, too.

Orthopedic Surgery
Dr. Fry graduated from the University of Southern California Keck School of Medicine in 1983. He specializes in Orthopedic Surgery and Orthopedic Sports Medicine and is certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery. His fellowship was with the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and he served his residency in Orthopedics with Shriners Hospital in San Francisco, Letterman Army Medical Center in San Francisco and the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology. "Inspired by the adventures of my youth in the Sierra Nevada, I entered college with the intent to become a wildlife biologist," he said. "Upon graduation, I discovered that the employment demand for those with degrees in wildlife biology were slim to none. With few job prospects, and no money, I decided to join the Army and let Uncle Sam help pay my way through medical school. After serving in Germany during Desert Storm, I returned to my roots in South Lake Tahoe. There I my father at Tahoe Fracture & Orthopedic Clinic (of which he was one of the founding partners). One of the things that I love most about what I do is being able to work together with my patients to help them overcome their problems and get back to 'living.'"
