Initial satisfactory representation gradually devolved into poor communication about upcoming court dates, legal strategy, and other vital information about my case. We had a verbal agreement that I would make payments toward my outstanding balance, and despite keeping this at a low and manageable level, counsel briskly retracted the agreement once my divorce decree was final. At that point, counsel made the unilateral decision to unknowingly hold my settlement hostage, proposing to deduct her entire remaining balance from these funds despite clear delineation that said funds were for solely for martial debt, NOT attorney fees. This was not discussed with me, her client, and the decision to divert my money to her outstanding balance was an insult to a paying client who had been nothing short of courteous, professional, and flexible. I was willing to forgive counsel of not informing me that a court date had been rescheduled, that a QDRO has been completed and signed, etc., but the reckless handling of my settlement led me to terminate my working relationship with counsel. Regrettably, I cannot recommend this attorney.
