The Pet Lodge

I will only board my dogs at the pet lodge. We have a basset hound and a bull dog mix.
The owner Ms.Judy is the best. The staff is first class. I have been boarding my boys for 2 years now. They come home happy every time! I have them groom my dogs also and they are fantastic. Truly blessed to have found the pet lodge. Great owners and great employees

Valentine Acres is by far the best lodging and boarding facility I've ever entered! Let me start by saying how amazingly clean they keep this place! I was expecting to enter and be hit with the smell of dogs... But that's not what I got! It smelled clean and fresh, and as I went back for a tour of the rest of the facility, it was all very clean and fresh. Even in the kennel area didn't smell the slightest bit like urine or feeces. I am very impressed at how clean they keep it! Since then, I've left my boy there a handful of times, and he always drags me in the front door, and greets Ashley and Judy like its his second home. It makes me feel so good to leave him and him being just as happy when I pick him up as he was when he got there is always a plus! His groom is always immaculate! Judy can always accommodate to my picky wife who always says "let's try the beard a little shorter this time" or "keep him a bit longer this time since winter's coming" (where's winter? I don't see it) anyway, this place is above and beyond anything I thought I'd ever find! It's definitely a treasure in Central Georgia!

I don’t usually take the time to write complaints and it has been a few months since I brought my dog into Valentine Acres but it has been nagging at me that I haven’t left a review. I feel like someone looking for services for their precious babies should know about my experience. I called Valentine Acres inquiring about grooming prices. I tried to tell the woman I spoke to a little bit about my dog. He is 13 years old, has had hip surgeries, had a wound on his tail that had recently healed and he gets nervous about having his hair cut. I mostly hoped this woman would ease my fears about taking him to a new groomer (we usually take him to PetSmart without incident) but she was very uninterested in the things I had to say.

When arriving at Valentine Acres I greeted the same woman that I had spoken to over the phone. We discussed that my dog was not fixed but that he isn’t an aggressive dog. We did manage to discuss that his tail had only recently healed. I put his rabies vaccine paperwork on the counter and indicated to the woman what the paperwork was. She did not look at this or make copies of this before the haircut or when we returned to get our dog. Did she just pocket our money and keep his name off the records? She was the only one there and never even looked at the rabies vaccine information I provided. Do all the dogs there have their proper vaccines?

I arrived to get my dog. I asked the woman how did he do? She said disappointingly that she had to put the muzzle on him. I stated that I wasn’t surprised, like I said before he gets nervous about getting his haircut. This appeared to shock the woman as she then angrily stated “But you told me he wasn’t aggressive!” My dog is not aggressive and he is 25 pounds, 13 years old, has had his haircut many times before without incident. She seemed to be accusing me of having a very mean dog and not warning her. This was very unusual and bizarre to me. The woman stated “You said he has never had his haircut before.” I never said this to her.

When I take my dog to Petsmart they style him. His hair gets cut shorter but it has “style” to it, shaped nicely and even. This woman basically just shaved my dog, uneven spots, really terrible looking haircut.

The main problem here is that she also cut my dog. She stated that “the spot on his tail that you mentioned did bleed some.” Wow, there was a trail of blood down his back leg that was nowhere near his old wound. I don’t understand how that happened but then the woman blatantly lied about it.

I did express to her that I was not satisfied with my experience there. She then preceded to charge me 20 dollars more then what she stated to me the cost would be over the phone AND charged me the flea fee…my dog did not have fleas.

This place was kind of a nightmare. I feel so sorry that I subjected my dog to this place. I never get on to review sites to complain but I think people should know these things when it comes to our precious puppy dogs. Have a good day.

As soon as my dogs arrive to Valentine Acres Pet Lodge they race to the door wanting into the lodge. As soon as we turn into their driveway they get so excited because they know where they are going! The dogs run to the back where they are boarding and they never look back. They feel at home which makes me feel very reassured. They have a great facility and I don't ever stress or worry about leaving them there. I also just started getting one of my dogs groomed there and he looks the best he has ever looked! Judy is so patient with my dog, and I know he is aggressive towards people and other dogs and a pain and he comes right in and greets Judy by leaping over the lobby gate. I will not leave my dogs or get them groomed anywhere else, but Valentine Acres, I highly recommend them!!

Not only did my babies come back nicked, they came back with fleas. They have never had a flea on them until they went here.
