Dr. Levine is Board Certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology, as well as Reproductive Endocrinology, and Infertility. Dr. Levineâ€™s research and clinical interests include infertility, recurrent pregnancy loss and endometriosis. In addition, Dr. Levine has extensive experience and proficiency in advanced endoscopic and laser surgery. He is the author of numerous scientific papers and has lectured extensively at national meetings and conferences.
Endometriosis
Reproductive surgery can be a good option for the evaluation and treatment of infertility. Indications for surgery could include abnormal findings on initial testing, failed treatments with oral medication, inability to assess fertility factors with less invasive diagnostic testing, recurrent pregnancy loss or a strong suspicion for a pelvic factor such as endometriosis. The risks and benefits of proceeding with surgical investigation and treatment will be discussed prior to proceeding with these treatments.
Pregnancy
Diagnosis of genetic disease Â - PGD can also be helpful to diagnose genetic disease in the situation where the man or woman is a carrier for a specific genetic disease. The most common situation is that of a person being a carrier for disease such as Cystic Fibrosis, a potentially life-altering and fatal disease for the child who born with this condition. In the situation where both parents are carriers of this type of genetic condition, called Autosomal Recessive Inheritance, there is a 25 % likelihood of the child having this condition. PGD can diagnose this condition prior to conception, with the goal to only transfer embryos that are genetically normal and therefore not produce a child that is affected with this disease. Likewise, PGD can help to prevent the delivery of a child with an age- related genetic disease, such as Trisomy 21, ( Down Syndrome), or even more serious chromosomal disease, with the transfer of only normal embryos to the womanâ€™s uterus after genetic testing. A normal embryo produced as part of an IVF/ PGD cycle may also help to guide decision-making regarding whether to perform invasive pregnancy testing such as amniocentesis or Chorionic Villus Sampling (CVS). This type of PGD, for the diagnosis of genetic chromosomal abnormality, been recently re-termed Preimplantation Genetic Testing- Aneuploidy (PGT-A)

Thyroid

Ultrasound
For those who have failed injectable medication with IUI, or for those individuals or couple whose needs warrant this level of care, IVF is extremely successful and represents the highest level of success, for all indications, in reproductive medicine. In IVF cycles, the woman receives injectable hormonal stimulation for usually 10-12 days, with ultrasound and blood monitoring to assess the safety and effectiveness of this regimen. Unlike IUI, however, in IVF cycles the main intervention after the HCG injection is an ultrasound-guide transvaginal collection (retrieval) of multiple oocytes (eggs) from the This procedure is done under conscious sedation anesthesia under the care of a Board- Certified anesthesiologist. The actual egg collection procedure is performed by the Reproductive Endocrinologist and takes 15-30 minutes on average.
Radiology
The catheter is placed by a physician, or other medical provider, and is generally performed in a radiology center or hospital. The results of the test are transmitted to the referring physician. Generally, a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medication such as Ibuprofen is administered one hour prior to the procedure., which helps to minimize discomfort.

Chemotherapy
1. Fertility Preservation prior to cancer therapy- one of the most critical indications for egg freezing is the ability to offer preservation of fertility for women facing chemotherapy as part of their cancer treatments. These treatments can lead to permanent loss of reproductive potential for women due destruction of their eggs as a direct result of the chemotherapy, with premature ovarian failure and early menopause. The older the woman is at the time of chemotherapy, the higher the likelihood that permanent ovarian failure will occur as a result of the chemotherapy. Even with a diagnosis of cancer, fertility preservation with egg freezing can be safely performed in many cases prior to chemotherapy, in order to ensure future fertility potential. Reproductive Endocrinologists work closely with medical and GYN oncologists to ensure the treatments are safe and tailored to the personsâ€™ needs.

Laparoscopy
