At Dr. Deck’s office, your dental examination will generally include an oral cancer screening, gum disease evaluation, visual examination for tooth decay, evaluation of current restorations including fillings, plus the capture and review of diagnostic X-rays to see any cysts, tumors, tooth decay, and other problems that can’t be seen by the naked eye.

Teeth Cleaning
Professionally cleaned teeth always look better and feel great, don’t they? Many people think that a professional teeth cleaning is meant to make a smile brighter. While partly true, here is the real purpose: A professional cleaning performed by a dental hygienist in Dr. Deck’s office is an essential step toward preventing gum disease and minimizing tooth decay. As part of a professional cleaning, your dental hygienist will remove plaque, remove calculus above and below the gum line, remove some tooth stains, and polish the teeth.
Dental Sealants
A sealant is a plastic material that’s usually applied to the chewing surfaces of the back teeth in children and adults. (Yes, we also said adults.) This plastic resin flows into, and adheres to, the depressions and grooves (pits and fissures) of the tooth. The sealant guards these vulnerable areas of the tooth, protecting the tooth enamel from food, plaque, and acids.

It’s called cosmetic bonding because a composite resin is shaded to match your teeth, then bonded to your teeth, then carefully sculpted to fix a problem such as rough or jagged tooth edges, slightly chipped teeth, unattractive gaps between front teeth, even mis-colored or stained teeth. The composite resin is made from fine glass particles suspended in a plastic resin. Cosmetic bonding is a less-expensive alternative to porcelain or ceramic veneers, but will dramatically improve any smile.
Veneers
Tooth veneers, also called porcelain veneers, are thin, custom shells made from either dental porcelain or dental composites. Both come in a wide variety of life-like tooth colors and are excellent for covering permanently stained teeth, hiding tooth gaps, and correcting chipped or broken teeth. They are bonded directly to the front of the teeth, much like artificial fingernails are attached. Porcelain veneers look incredibly natural, and can do wonders for any smile. Veneers made from dental composites are also beautiful, but at less cost. Both can be expertly matched to your tooth color.
Crowns
A temporary is a crown or bridge that is placed on the prepared teeth while the final restoration is being made. It protects the exposed dentin so it is not sensitive, prevent food and bacteria from collecting on prepared teeth, and prevent the tooth from shifting and moving, which can make seating of the final restoration more difficult.
