Ultrasound
During your initial consultation, your legs will be examined for more serious "deep vein" problems, often indicated by swelling, sores, or skin changes at the ankle. A hand-held Doppler ultrasound device is sometimes used to detect any backflow within the venous system. Duplex Ultrasonography is the gold standard for evaluating the leg veins which might be recommended before sclerotherapy is instituted.

Cyst Removal
Dr. Self treats patients for various conditions such as skin tag or cyst removal, moles, actinic keratosis, ingrown nails and warts.

Botox
Having performed minor surgical procedures over the years Dr. Self became very interest in finding ways to accomplish this in a more cosmetically pleasing manner. His practice now includes the treatment of skin disorders especially related to aging. He is excited that Botox® and facial “fillers” such as Restylane®, Juvaderm®, Perlane® and others can be used to enhance one’s appearance.. These are the top two procedures used by Dr. Self in his practice with excellent results and affordability. These procedures along with IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) and PDT (Photodynamic Therapy) can certainly help one to... look younger... longer.
Liposuction
Two of the newer procedures that we focus on at the Self Center include Tumescent Liposuction and Vein Therapy. All surgical procedures are performed in the surgical suite in our office for your comfort and convenience.
Lip Augmentation
Injectable medications can help smooth out facial wrinkles, lines and folds and also can be used to enhance lips. The results can last six months or longer. Skin fillers have added new dimensions to cosmetic therapies, allowing new forms of facial rejuvenation and wrinkle treatment without surgery. There are several injectable skin and wrinkle fillers used to increase tissue volume as with lip augmentation, reduce wrinkles, and improve skin’s overall contour.
Cosmetic Surgery
In 2009, Dr. Self continued his training in tumescent liposuction and lipolysis by studing under Roger Hogue, MD at the Hogue Cosmetic Surgery in Maple Grove, MN and with Jeffrey B. Schafer, MD at the New Image Cosmetic surgery in Coronado, CA. Drs. Hogue and Schafer studied under Jeffrey A. Klein, MD, a guru in tumescent liposuction and the inventor of tumescent solution used in tumescent liposuction.

Acne Treatment
PDT using Levulan® activated with Blu-U is considered one of the safest acne treatments available. It has minimal known side effects. The results can last months depending on the severity and the number of treatments required. However, varying results should be expected from one person to the next. Your skin type and severity of your acne will play an important role in determining the results. Levulan® applied topically to the area of acne and activated either with the Blu-U or IPL has essentially replaced the need for Accutane ®for acne treatment. Accutane® has many possible side effects which is not associated with Levulan®.
Lesions
After extensive study and training under Laser and IPL Specialist, Terri Boyert, non-ablative skin procedures have been added to his practice using the IPL and Nd:Yag laser; the two cornerstones for skin rejuvenation. Using these modalities Dr. Self has added to his practice the treatment of hair and vein reduction, rosacea, acne and precancerous lesions. In addition, the medicine, Levulan®, activated with IPL or BLU-U light source also provides treatment of actinic keratosis (sun damage), acne, rosacea, melasma (mask of pregnancy) and other skin disordeSince studying under Dr. Jacques Le Coz in Paris in 2003, he has added mesotherapy to his practice, which is a micro-injection treatment for body sculpting by reducing localized topical fat deposits, i.e., tummy pooches, love handles, thighs and cellulite. Chemical Peels
Chemical peel brings about a significant improvement in skin rejuvenation. In this procedure, different concentrations of the peeling agents such as Trichloroacetic Acid (TCA), glycolic acid and others are used. Application of the peeling solution on the skin initiates the peeling process and causes the outer layer of the skin to slowly peel off. In a few weeks a healthier skin replaces the old skin.
Skin Care
Kinerase® is a gentle, yet effective skin care regimen scientifically shown to improve the appearance of skin aging, sun damage, blotchiness and roughness. The complete regimen of products works synergistically to reveal more radiant, visibly tighter skin.

Allergies
Restylane®, the first FDA-approved dermal filler made of stable, biodegradable, non-animal hyaluronic acid, was approved in 2003 by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA). It is intended for the treatment of facial wrinkles, lines and folds. It does not require allergy testing and lasts twice as long as collagen injections.
