Sr Brock Apartments

If I could give this business a 0 star rating I would. My Fiance, Coworker and I lived there for a year. June 2010 to June 2011. Today is August 13th and we are just now receiving our "deposit slip" back. According to the complex our "lease" says 50% of our 895 dollar deposit is not refundable. There is a 200 dollar charge on top of that to shampoo the carpets after we leave. They have said there is a hole in the upstairs hallway and four sets of mini blinds have been damaged. After all of the charges coming out from our deposit, we now 'owe' them 27.50. Monday I will be sorting this out and possibly seeking legal help. Charges were not discussed in an upfront manner. We did not see the apartment until after the lease had been signed. And I felt mislead about the state of the apartment when first walked in. The model, which serves as their office, is nothing like many of the earlier updated town homes. I feel certain the minimal paper work we signed said anything about half of the deposit being non-refundable and I cannot see myself agreeing to a 200 dollar carpet shampooing charge. The three of us are all fairly certain none of this was written into the lease that we signed. Unfortunately we were never provided with a copy even after we asked. However, we are human and can make mistakes. Further more, the neighborhood is trash. There were few nights in the summer that we could leave our windows open because people were smoking skunk weed in the yard behind us. The neighbors cannot control their pets or their children. The week we were moving, someone stole a charcoal grill off of our back patio. I would safely call this complex the ghetto of Fairfield. Do not rent or know what you are getting into. That flake in the office has no idea what she is doing half of the time.
