When needed, we are fully equipped and experienced at providing dental care under general anesthesia. However, at Wolf Rock, our goal is to help prevent the need for in-hospital dental care by promoting high quality diets and other preventative methods. Animals that are fed appropriate, healthy diets rarely need dentistry under anesthesia.
Vaccination
Unlike many animal hospitals today, our practice style is not driven by drug company promotions, vaccinations and the marketing schemes of corporate interests. We take the time to sit down with you, get to know you and your pets, address all health issues and formulate a plan to improve health and well being.
Behavioral Counseling
Veterinary homeopathy has been used successfully to treat or alleviate all types of disease. It can be especially helpful with some behavioral problems and with situations involving illness after grief, neglect or abuse. The national certifying organization is the AVHA (Academy of Veterinary Homeopathy).
Nutritional Counseling
After the recent pet food recalls, many pet owners are wondering what to feed their animal friends, and where to turn for information. If you haven't checked the latest lists of recalled products, I suggest that you do, as the original list was expanded several times within the first week. If your pets are showing any unusual signs, such as listlessness, loss of appetite, vomiting, increase thirst or urination, you should consult your veterinarian. Sadly, we are gradually learning about thousands of animals who have fallen victim to the toxins in the tainted foods.
Comprehensive Examination
Each case is individually evaluated and the treatment choice is made according to the preference of the client and the needs of the patient. In order to apply this holistic approach, new patients are scheduled an initial one hour appointment for physical examination, case review and treatment options. Therefore, we are unable to advise on specific treatment of a case before the initial appointment. If you are seeking alternative therapies for an existing condition in your pet, we'd like you to know that alternative therapies may be used alone or in conjunction with conventional treatments for almost any condition.
That are clean, with no mats, and who have healthy skin and coats have less problems with fleas and ticks.
Pain Management
Both Dr. Hassinger and Dr. Connell perform routine procedures and surgeries. Our surgical suite is fully equipped with gas anesthesia and appropriate monitors for heart rate, oxygen saturation and blood pressure. Our surgery table is heated, and all anesthetized patients are handled with the utmost care. Post operative care includes conventional pain medication, as well as appropriate homeopathic remedies and flower essences.
Vomiting Treatment
Skin Condition and Allergy Treatment
There are many books and websites that provide recipes. Many of the published recipes however, were formulated to mimic the ingredients used in commercial pet foods. Therefore, they may use grains to provide much of the protein and calories that would otherwise be supplied by meats. With grains in the diet, there is an increased risk of problems such as allergies, flatulence, obesity and poor hair coats. My preference for healthy animals, that do not otherwise need special restrictions, is to feed grain free diets. They do great on these diets, and they are simple to prepare. The recipes included below are designed to be flexible. I recommend that you vary the meats and vegetable regularly. Please be consistent with adding the recommended minerals, vitamins and oils, or you may encounter some skin problems. In the case of cats, it is essential that the supplemental amino acid, taurine is provided as directed.
Western medicine clearly understands that the entire body is intimately inter-connected. We know that stress can cause heart disease, stomach upset, headaches... and that a problem in the heart can cause increased blood pressure and hormone alterations that can affect the kidneys, the brain and the muscles.
Kidney Disease Treatment
Acupuncture can be applied as a treatment for almost any condition, and is especially helpful for the treatment of allergies, arthritis, vertebral disc disease, intestinal imbalances, immune support and kidney disease.
When appropriate, alternative therapies such as acupuncture, animal chiropractic, physical therapy, nutritional supplements, herbal remedies and homeopathy are suggested, in order to help the body heal without the use of chemicals and surgery. Surgical care, dentistry, radiology, preventative care and general medicine are also available when needed.
“It all starts with a love for animals. In my practice, I’m really able to love animals. My staff members love animals. I encourage them to actually talk to the animals: ‘Don’t just hold the animal, but talk to them, say it’s OK, we’re going to help you. We’re taking this blood test because we have to find out what’s going on.
