The word arthritis literally means "joint inflammation." Arthritis refers to a group of more than 100 rheumatic diseases and other conditions that cause pain, stiffness, and swelling in joints. Rheumatoid arthritis is a disease that damages the lining surrounding our joints while also destroying our bones, tissue, and joints over time. Osteoarthritis is a progressive condition that slowly damages the cartilage surrounding the ends of bones and is common in the hip, knee, or spine.
Pediatric Care
Orthopedic surgeons are specialized in the musculoskeletal system; many orthopedists specialize in certain areas of the body, such as foot and ankle; hand and wrist; or back, neck, and spine. Additionally, orthopedic doctors may focus on a specific field of orthopedics, like pediatrics, sports medicine, or trauma.

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
Wrist pain can be the result of a condition that has transpired over time or from overuse injuries like tendonitis (medically referred to as tendinitis), carpal tunnel syndrome, and arthritis, or as the result of an injury from an accidental fall or recent sports injury, such as a fracture or sprain.

Magnetic Resonance Imaging, commonly referred to as an MRI, is an advanced technology that uses magnetic fields and radio waves (like microwaves and the AM and FM bands on your radio) to visualize the inner workings of the body.

Computed Tomography
A computed tomography (CT) scan, also known as CAT scan, produces images that are similar in detail and in quality to an MRI; however, the CT scan takes a 360-degree picture of internal organs and the spine and vertebrae. CT scans provide cross-sectional views of the body and provide clearer imaging than an MRI.

Arthroscopy
In some circumstances, and if not identified early on, conditions such as knee arthritis may create extreme bone and joint discomfort, making knee surgery, such as knee replacement, total knee arthroplasty, or knee arthroscopy, possible options to relieving your knee pain.
Joint Replacement
Joint replacement, or total joint arthroplasty, is an advanced treatment for patients who suffer from chronic joint pain. A specialty-trained orthopedic surgeon will remove damaged portions of the patient's joint and replace them with an implant that will allow the patient to use the joint again with reduced pain and improved strength and function.
Hand Surgery
A graduate of Temple University Medical School, Dr. Greg Menio completed his surgical internship at Lehigh Valley Hospital Center followed by his residency at the Boston University Affiliated Hospitals in Boston, Massachusetts. Dr. Menio is certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and holds additional subspecialty certification in sports medicine and a certificate of added qualifications in hand surgery. He is also certified through the National Strength and Conditioning Association as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist®.
Orthopedic Surgery
Once a doctor has completed an orthopedic residency at a major medical institution, the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery offers a written test to become board-eligible. If the written test is passed, the doctor becomes “eligible” to take the oral test, after two years in practice. When the doctor passes the oral exam, the doctor becomes “board-certified” and is considered a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery.

A graduate of the College of the Holy Cross, Dr. Cibischino received his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (Rutgers) Medical School. He served as administrative chief resident in orthopedic surgery at the university. He completed a one-year accredited fellowship in orthopedic sports medicine at Kentucky Sports Medicine, in Lexington, Kentucky. He is board-certified in orthopedic surgery and is on active staff at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Pocono. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, a fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and an active member of the Arthroscopy Association of North America.
Hip Replacement
For some patients with hip osteoarthritis or a fractured hip, surgical treatment may be required. If nonsurgical methods are unsuccessful or no longer produce the desired results, your surgeon may recommend a hip replacement surgery to restore your hip joint and allow you to return to your favorite activities without pain.
Knee Replacement
Robotic knee replacement is just like traditional total knee replacement, where the two main portions of the knee are replaced with a prosthetic knee joint. Unlike other forms of knee replacement surgery, however, you will have a 3D surgical plan built for you based on your own knee's anatomy prior to your robotic-assisted total knee replacement surgery. Using this plan and real-time data provided by the robotic system, Dr. Componovo can guide a robotic-arm assistant to easily and accurately place your unique implant for a new knee and a new lease on life.

A physical therapist is licensed by the state and specializes in therapy programs for musculoskeletal injuries and disorders, sports injuries, postoperative rehabilitation, and massage therapy.
Physical Therapy
Heat is used to increase blood flow, which helps promote pain relief after inflammation and swelling subside. Heat is also used to assist in warming muscles up prior to exercise, any physical activity, or physical therapy.
