You know how movies will portray utility companies as greedy, evil, unconscionable, immoral scum devils?
I'd say some Hollywood script writer use to be a customer of Chesapeake Utilities.

CU is greedy and immoral in my opinion. Especially in the cold weather. Because if people don't want to freeze to death CU knows they'll pay anything to stay warm.

CU turned our gas off without knocking first to get a check for the past due amount. Then they put the notice on the door that the gas was off. And WE WERE HOME!

If we wanted to get our gas turned on the same day, Chesapeake Utilities tagged on what I call an extortion fee. (Extortion (also called shakedown, outwrestling, and exaction) is a criminal offense of obtaining money, property, or services from an institution, through coercion.)
Otherwise, we could freeze over night and have it turned on for no extra charge the next day. As long as those days fell in the five day work week.

Then, when the boiler wouldn't light because the technician screwed something up in the feed, they wanted to charge us $75.00 to come back out and light the pilot light. Because we can light the pilots on our water heater and typically the boiler. But not thanks to that technician doing something that screwed up the feed to that part of the house.

So we're making the electric company very rich using space heaters. Because if you don't have the $75.00 extortion fee for that technician to return to the house, you freeze!

And why is this? Because Chesapeake Utilities is the only gas company on the east coast! Every gas company serving at least the three state area of Delaware, Maryland, where we are, and PA, are all subsidiaries of Chesapeake Utilities.

They're scum of the earth! And for as long as I live I'll tell people that. CU doesn't care about you. They care about money.
They're so immoral that they have mental health counselors on staff so that employees can live with the policies they use against people.
