Vaccination
By making regular appointments to check on the health of your pet, this will help in prevention of disease and illness. Make sure that your pet receives all of the necessary vaccinations. If your pet experiences any tell tale signs of disease or illness, including a change in activity, appetite, or general condition, please call us immediately. Additionally, please try to make sure your pet takes the proper medication to prevent tick or flea infestation in addition to problems caused by heart worms.
Nutritional Counseling
HOOKWORM, which can be transmitted from the mother to the baby during nursing. This parasite fastens itself to the walls of the small intestine, and drains the pet's energy by causing anemia and loss of appetite. A black tarry stool, often with traces of blood, is another symptom.

Illness Treatment

Parasites Treatment and Control
The most common external parasites are wingless bloodsucking insects, and the most common of these is the flea. Symptoms are continual scratching and loss of fur. Over time, fleas have become resistant to many flea-control products, so ask us to recommend an effective flea-control plan. Be sure you read and follow the label directions carefully. A once-a-month pill, available by prescription, prevents flea eggs in your pet’s fur from maturing. Unfortunately, it won’t eliminate grown fleas, and it requires 30 to 60 days to become effective. But it will kill eggs, which are a source of future infestations. Long-lasting, topically applied products can also be effective, and are available over the counter.

Vaccines protect animals and people from specific viral and bacterial infections. They are not a treatment. If your pet gets sick because he is not properly vaccinated, the vaccination should be given after your companion animal recovers.

Kidney Disease Treatment
While dental disease may not be too serious if caught early enough, some odors may be indicative of fairly serious, chronic problems. Liver or intestinal diseases may cause foul breath, whereas a sweet, fruity smell may be indicative of diabetes. If the breath smells like ammonia or urine, kidney disease is a possibility. Any time you notice your pet has bad breath accompanied by other signs of ill health such as loss of appetite, vomiting, weight loss, depression, excessive drinking or urinating, a visit to our office should be scheduled.
Periodontal Disease Treatment
Puppies & Kittens replace their baby teeth with permanent teeth between four and seven months of age. Clean their teeth with specially formulated dog toothpaste daily or atleast twice a week. Use a pet toothbrush or child's soft toothbrush, a gauze pad or a finger brush over your finger. Some pets develop periodontal disease, a pocket of infection between the tooth and the gum. This painful condition can result in tooth loss and is a source of infection for the rest of the body. We can clean the teeth as a regular part of your pet's health program.

Veterinary Surgery
Some of these diagnostic procedures involve exploratory surgery, allowing us to better evaluate a diseased area visually. In other cases, it may involve getting a sample of the abnormal organ (biopsy), which can be submitted to a laboratory for evaluation.
Spaying and Neutering
Spaying also eliminates the risk of pyometra (an infected uterus), a very serious problem in older females that requires surgery and intensive medical care. And spaying protects your female pet from having unwanted litters. Neutering males prevents testicular and prostate diseases, some hernias and certain types of aggression (which differ from protectiveness, which this surgery won't affect).
