After reading several equally bad reviews for other rental agencies for this airport I was prepared to be unhappy with Budget car rental. . However in spite of the over crowded Budget bus to the rental lot I was pleasantly surprised. Yes the line was long but half of those in the line were groups and not everyone in the group was renting a car but with someone who was. I waited about 20 minutes and there were 4 agents working and most were smiling and pleasant to the customers. I was not bullied or pressured to buy anything. The agent I dealt with admitted they did have bad reviews when I told her I was apprehensive about renting from them. Without further delay our group of three got into our car and off we went. Car was new and clean and only had 4,000 miles on it. Upon returning the car after a week the agent did a quick walk around inspection and there were no complaints and off we went again. Also the scare of tolls roads is really over blown. I did not use a toll road, there seems to be only one toll road around the outskirts of the city, I did pay a huge toll one time last year while driving a section of the the turn pike in Miami that uses a cash less toll,so I know what a rip off that is. You do not need to use this toll road in Denver to get to the airport in fact I did not even see signs for it. I was not charged an additional fee for anything, even a month later, So all in all I had a pleasant experience. Budget car rental does have several off airport offices, one in the city center... hard to get to and one on Quebec St. but it closes at 2 pm on Saturday. They are several hundred dollars less expensive per week... but through a special deal with Southwest airlines I was able to find the same lower rental fee.
Recently rented a Dodge Caravan from National in Denver. Emerald aisle pick-up works great. Many of the cars there had very small trunks so appreciated being able to get the van. Van performed well in RMNP but when we return to Denver on a Sunday we had issues with the motor racing then slowing down. Called assistance and they said to take it to have it towed. This would have totally ruined our day. They then determined that we could take it to the Colorado metro airport and exchange it. We were very close to that airport at the time. The only problem was they did not inform the National person at the airport. Finally they gave us a Toyota Van that was just returned but not clean. We were happy we could continue on with our vacation day and not lose too much time. Only gave it a 4 because it would have been better if we did not have trouble with the vehicle at all and if they would have let the lady know at the Colorado Metro airport that we were coming in to exchange the van.
Rented a car from National at the Denver International Airport for a week long vacation. Online reservation was quick and easy (reserved a month in advance). When we arrived at the airport, no one was at the service desk (It was Sunday night and none of the car rental service desks for any providers were staffed). There was just a sign saying to proceed to the shuttle. This is more of a ding on the airport, but it wasn't clear where to go (I found this to generally be the case in that airport). Once we asked someone and found the shuttle, we were able to board a shuttle bus immediately and quickly arrived at the National terminal. The service was really fast and friendly. We made our car selection and were on our way in minutes. The car was great (2017 Kia Sedona with 63 miles). Car return was very smooth - took about a minute. The rate was exactly what I expected - no hidden charges. Note - I am a Emerald Club Executive member.
