Interesting Facts: Ms. Myer has practiced law in the Atlanta area for over thirty years, but she began her career working with the Superior Court of the U.S. Territory of Guam in the dual roles of Law Clerk to Presiding Judge Paul J. Abbate and Staff Counsel to the Court. Her duties in those positions included not only handling the typical responsibilities of a law clerk or staff attorney to the presiding judge, but also advising the Guam Legislature regarding issues of Guamanian election law; serving as staff attorney advising the court on administrative matters; and also assisting the Presiding Judge with his separate duties as a Justice of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Palau (which was at that time a United Nations Trust Territory under the administration of the United States). During her tenure, she assisted the Presiding Judge with numerous civil, domestic and criminal motions and trials conducted in the Superior Court of Guam; advised panels of the Supreme Court of Palau on matters that included the appeal from a conviction of murdering the President of Palau and challenges to the scheduling and conduct of elections to approve certain amendments to the Constitution of the Republic of Palau; and served as lead counsel in an appeal to the Ninth Circuit of the United States Court of Appeals (Cruz v. Abbate) that addressed the method of assigning criminal matters to the judges of the Superior Court of Guam.
