Ultrasound
Depending on the outcome of your initial evaluation, a duplex ultrasound scan may be necessary and a separate appointment will be scheduled. The ultrasound provides a visual window, revealing the diseased, refluxing veins beneath the skin’s surface. The diagnostic information from the ultrasound can help us pinpoint the exact cause of your varicose veins and enable us to customize a treatment plan for your individual needs. The scan may be a covered benefit through your health insurance plan, and we encourage you to check with your plan provider before having the test.

VeinSolutions is a division of Surgical Specialists of Georgia, P.C., a nationally recognized vein clinic dedicated to the diagnosis and treatment of varicose and spider veins. Our three surgeons have over 65 years of combined surgical experience in vascular and general surgery.
Vascular Surgery
Dr. Berman opened his Tucson practice devoted entirely to the specialty of vascular surgery in 1994 and founded Tucson Vascular Surgery in 1997. Throughout his career, Dr. Berman has actively participated in research and continues to do so with a particular interest in vascular biology, medical database design, and bioengineering. He has published numerous articles on many topics in vascular surgery and is presently completing a textbook on vascular access surgery.

Plastic Surgeons

Botox
Botox cosmetic is a simple, non-surgical, physician-administered treatment that can temporarily smooth moderate to severe frown lines and crow’s feet. It is the only treatment of its type approved by the (FDA). It is a purified protein produced by the Clostridium botulinum bacterium, which reduces the activity of the muscles that cause those wrinkles.
Bariatric Surgery
Dr. Daniel Procter is board certified in critical care, peripheral vascular surgery and general surgery with expertise in bariatric surgery. In 2000, after eight years of private practice in Gainesville as a general and vascular surgeon at Northeast Georgia Surgical Associates, he founded The Vascular Disease Institute and ObesitySolutions. Dr. Procter was an honors graduate of West Georgia College and earned his medical degree at the Medical College of Georgia. A veteran of the United States Air Force, he held positions as Chief of Peripheral Vascular Surgery, Chief of General Surgery and Director of Surgical Intensive Care at Wright Patterson USAF Medical Center in Dayton, Ohio. He served as Chief of Trauma and Emergency Surgical Services, Co-director of the Surgical Intensive Care Unit and Co-director of Critical Care Fellowship at Wilford Hall USAF Medical Center in Texas. He completed a fellowship in peripheral vascular surgery at the Mayo Graduate School of Medicine. He has participated in several investigative protocols for vascular surgery and has had articles published on vascular surgery, morbid obesity and trauma care. His personal interests include trips to the mountains with his wife, spending time with his grandchildren, and golf.

Lesions
Because the laser/light therapy does not damage surrounding skin, it is appropriate for spider veins on the face or trunk as well as vascular birthmarks such as hemangiomas and port-wine stains. Facial lesions will often be eliminated with just one or two treatments; however, birthmarks often require more than one treatment. There may be moderate redness and swelling immediately after the procedure and patients must stay out of the sun for four weeks prior to and after each treatment.
