Overall

Hello, my name is Tim. When I first read about EVI I had high hopes. The reviews were pretty good, and their website looked very professional. Stan seemed like a nice guy and I trusted him to do my three- inch flowmaster exhaust on my 1969 Chevelle. I went to the shop in Davison. Main complaints: Poorly run/organized, unprofessional, and worst, they put a deep scrape in my car about six inches long, and then lied about it.

EVI did good work on the exhaust system, but this is the extent of anything good I can say about them. I encountered several problems while working with EVI. I first wanted to take it to the Swartz Creek location as it was closer to me. Mark told me they would ship the parts there, but when I arrived at the Swartz Creek location they said they didn't know what I was talking about. When I was able to reach him, Mark apologized and said the truck didn't deliver the parts. I had to wait and ended up taking it to Davison anyway. This waste of my time and gas was a warning sign that I ignored. Secondly, on two seperate occasions and the woman who answered said she would call me back as she wasn't able to help me at the moment. I got no return calls. Thirdly, the deadline was pushed back twice simply bacause the work was not finished. Fourth problem: the billing. Mark first told me an estimate nearly half of what I was finally billed. It was explained to me that since they had run into problems with clearance of the exhaust system, they had to keep my car much longer and do a lot of modifying. (One of the back-end exhaust pipes now sticks out about a centimeter farther than the other- something I would be willing to overlook since I understand it had become custom work.) I realize that billing and deadlines are dependent on the nature of the job, but these discrepancies seem too big to overlook. By the way, when I asked for the aforementioned Mark I was told that he was let go, and Stan told me later that he had to fire four employees. The poor communication, the frustrating organization, and the general lack of professsionalism that EVI demonstrated throughout the job would have been enough to tell someone to think twice before taking their vehicle there. I may have rated it "3 stars" and not even bothered to write a review. But little did I know, the worst problem I would have with them would be when I went to pick up my car.

My car is a beautiful 1969 light-blue classic. I want everything to be original as possible, and I had pride in the near-perfect body and paint. I'm sure anyone can attest that when you care that much about your car, you pay great attention to it. I dropped my car off, walked around my car disscusing it and the job with one of the workers. I am certain that I would have noticed a gaping scrape in the driver's side. Yet, when I picked it up, it was not in the good condition that I had left it in. There was a deep-dented scrape in driver's side back fender. It was about six inches long, and down to the white undercoat. It was zig-zagged and ugly and LOUD. I have pictures for anyone who wants to email me at tperki86@yahoo.com. When I incredulously asked what the heck that was, the worker turned his back, and said "You brought it to us like that." as he walked away. I assured him with certainty, and at this point with anger, that I most definately did not bring it in that way. We had him call Stan, who agreed with his employee that that is how I brought it in. At this point I called the police to have them intervine in this fraudulant mess. The police told me that it was a civil matter and there was nothing they could do since I could not prove that they did it. I wish I could have. I highly recommend anyone that takes their vehicle anywhere, to take pictures of it there before you leave it with them.
