Teeth Cleaning
Note: you must be current with your dental cleanings before getting whitening treatment. If you are due for a cleaning we will schedule that first: depending on the schedule, we may be able to accommodate a whitening treatment the same day. Otherwise we may need to schedule a subsequent appointment.
Fluoride Treatment
Fluoride helps prevent tooth decay by making the tooth more resistant to acid attacks from plaque bacteria and sugars in the mouth. It also reverses early decay. In children under 6 years of age, fluoride becomes incorporated into the development of permanent teeth, making it difficult for acids to demineralize the teeth.Â Our pediatric dentists will take special care of childrenâ€™s teeth through a thorough cleaning and through the use of fluoride treatments, which will help strengthen the teeth for the future.

Dental sealants have been a highly effective treatment for preventing tooth decay since 1967 and is recommended by our dentists.

Fillings
Resin Composite
Endodontic therapy involves the use of a filling to replace the damaged soft inner core of the tooth. As with any filling, the damaged part of the tooth is removed and replaced. Since the soft portions of the tooth reside in small canals within the root, only that portion is filled. Following this, additional restoration, ranging from a tooth-colored composite resin filling to a protective crown, is required. However, once completed, the tooth will once again be a fully functional and esthetically pleasing.
Veneers
Dental veneersÂ are a good option to manage a number of different dental problems including discolored teeth, chipped and uneven teeth and gaps between teeth. Veneers are made from very thin porcelain and permanently attached directly to teeth after preparing the tooth surfaceÂ The result is whiter more attractive smile that restores confidence.
Crowns
Tooth sealants are a simple and painless tooth protection painted on back teeth.Â Sealants are applied as a liquid and harden to create a shield over the tooth.Â Sealants are an excellent way to avoid tooth decay on back teeth that donâ€™t receive their fair share of fluoride from drinking water and fluoride toothpaste. Sealants help avoid fillings, crowns, or caps used to fix decayed teeth.
Bridges
Dental Bridges are another option for replacement for teeth lost due to accidents, decay or gum disease. A dental bridge does exactly what it says â€“ it bridges the gap between existing and missing teeth. This not only prevents existing teeth from shifting around, but it also corrects an altered bite, improves chewing ability and speech articulation, and supports facial muscles to preserve your normal appearance. Most dental bridges consist of three basic units: the artificial tooth or teeth (the pontic) and two or more permanently attached crowns placed atop the neighboring (abutment teeth).

Restorative Dentistry
Restorative dentistry can provide patients with decayed teeth numerous benefits. The basic procedure involves removing the decayed portion of the tooth and then filling the cavity in the tooth with an appropriate filling material.

Root Canal Treatment
Dental Associates is unique in that all of our general dentists are trained in root canal treatment. Modern technology has made root canal treatment much easier for the patient allowing for shorter visits and better results. Most teeth can be treated in the office. Occasionally a patient may be referred to an Endodontist.

Gingivectomy and Gingivoplasty
Treatment of periodontal disease may include both non-surgical (deep cleanings) and surgical treatments, depending on how advanced your periodontal disease is and what is your periodontal problem. Inflammation, the bodyâ€™s reaction to fight off infection, guard against injury, or shield against irritation, initially intends to have a protective effect. Untreated chronic inflammation, on the other hand, can lead to the destruction of affected tissues, which can lead to more serious health conditions. He employs the latest technologies including Laser, digital imaging and CAD/CAM to help patients achieve their treatment goals.

Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery

Oral Surgery
For maximum patient comfort, Dental Associates provides various levels of sedation for oral surgery procedures, including nitrous oxide and IV sedation. Patients are continuously monitored during and after surgery. Most importantly, because we have an oral surgeon in all four office locations, patients are guaranteed the most convenient, stress-free experience possible.
Jaw Surgery
Treatment of impacted teeth includes early diagnosis and surgical removal before any of the potential complications occur. Wisdom teeth normally erupt in the mouth between the ages of 17 and 23. If they have not, they are probably impacted, although some people never develop one or more wisdom teeth. This should be determined by examination and Panoramic X-ray. Aside from prevention of the above listed complications, wisdom teeth may also need to be removed prior to orthodontic treatment or orthognathic surgery (correction of jaw deformities). During a consultation with the oral surgeon, all of the risks and benefits of the surgery will be reviewed. The type of anesthesia, intravenous sedation or local anesthesia, to be used will be also discussed and any questions you may have will be answered.
Gum Surgery
For your convenience, we even have evening and Saturday appointments. Our doctors and hygienists are attuned to recognizing periodontal problems early and to referring patients for treatment sooner rather than later. Such early intervention can play a big part in decreasing the extent of therapy. We can offer patients expert periodontic treatment including gum surgery/pocket reductions, and coverage of gum recessions as well as strict maintenance programs. State-of-the-art laser dentistry provides a pain-free, suture-free patient experience. We even offer sedation if needed and requested.
Tooth Extractions
There is more discomfort usually associated with impacted tooth removal than routine dental extractions. Patients may experience 2-3 days of discomfort, swelling, and difficulty opening the mouth after wisdom teeth removal. There may also be bruising or discoloration of the skin over the jaw. These symptoms vary depending on the extent of the surgery and each individual patientâ€™s response to a surgical procedure. Patients may be advised to limit their work or physical activity during this time. In general, younger patients have an easier and shorter recovery period. Patients are appointed to return for a post operative check-up in 7-10 days. If non-absorbable sutures were placed, they are removed at that time. Further check-ups are scheduled, if indicated.

Orthodontics
Dr. Galellaâ€™s professional experience includes four years with the United States Air Force, as Head of Preventive Dentistry and Orthodontics at MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, Florida.
Invisalign Orthodontics
Invisalign only works while you’re wearing the aligners. It’s recommended that you wear your aligners full-time, day and night, except to eat, brush, and floss your teeth.
Braces
Whatâ€™s more, if the children in our practice need braces or other special services, these services can all be coordinated at one convenient, familiar location. Family appointments can also be arranged, so that busy moms or dads can have their dental work taken care of, while the kids are being seen at the same location.

General Dentistry
Dr. Scott Solomons has practiced General Dentistry at Dental Associates of Connecticut since 1989, recently adding functional medicine to his practice. This is a new paradigm that ultimately enables the patient to heal by combining dentistry, nutrition, and general health concepts for better and more lasting results. Dr. Solomons uses a Carl Zeiss Microscope for all procedures and he employs laser dentistry.
