Pediatric Care
Childhood is an essential period for growth into a healthy, strong adult. At Pediatrics of Dalton in Dalton, GA, we will make sure your child is on the right path for development. We do this through offering a range of medical services. Our doctors and staff have years of experience to give us the expertise needed to provide treatment safely and accurately. Throughout the process, we will keep you informed as to your child’s health and what you can do at home to ensure they are protected from illness and injury.
Emergency Care
We have a physician on duty 24 hours per day. If needed, we will see your child in the emergency room or as soon as possible the next morning at the office, depending on the severity of your child’s condition. Please do not call the doctor on-call except for emergencies.
Infectious Diseases
Dr. Spanjer was born and raised in Cedartown, GA, one of four boys whose parents were general practitioners in Cedartown for 35 years before they retired. He received his B.A. Degree from the University of Colorado in 1965, and then he spent a year in graduate school studying psychology. He attended Emory University School of Medicine and spent three years in practice training at Grady and Egleston hospitals in Atlanta. From 1973 to 1976 he practiced general pediatrics with the Indian Health Service on the Navajo Reservation in Arizona. Main medical interests include infectious diseases and hematology. His wife Patty is a La Leche League leader and an Internationally Board Certified Lactation Consultant/BCLC, and they have five children: Michael, Timmy, Genni, Alex, and Andrew, and 10 grandchildren. Main interests include wildlife, gardening, outdoor recreation and music.

Immunizations
Children should visit the pediatrician for well-child exams beginning a few days after they leave the hospital at birth up until age 18. At these visits, we will track the progression of your child’s development, as well as administer immunizations and schedule laboratory testing when needed.
