My family used this hospice for the first two weeks of my sister's hospice care. The experence was unbelieveable! I will be brief in describing the problems we encountered which affected my sister negatively. During the initial nurse visit, the nurse mrasured my sister's swollin midsection. She said it measured 22 inches. When i told her that must be wrong, she told me that she was correct and wrote down 22 inches. I told her it should be at least 46 inches. She said again that it was 22 inches. I insisted she measure again. She huffed, measured it again and it was indeed 46 inches. I couldn't believe that an RN thought such a swolen midsection could possibly be 22 inches. She then explained that she would fedex medications including pain meds tylinol and hydrocotin. The hydrocodin was missing. My sister was in a great deal of pain. We called Seasons and requested hydrocotin. She called it in to the pharmacy but forgot to specify the number of pills. The pharmacy called me and told me to call the nurse and have her send a correct RX. After FOUR HOURS we finally had the pain medication but by that time my sister was in excruciating pain. There have been five scheduled times that an aide was to come and help with bathing. Not one time did the aide show up without my calling numerous times to get someone to show up hours later. The excuse is always that the nurse did not order an aide. On each occasion there were witnesses that appointments had been made. My sister also takes a blood thinner and was supposed to be checked for accurate dosage. The nurse had to prick her finger to draw a drop of blood and place it on a reading instrument. The instrument did not register so she pricked her again, and again. After 8 painful and frustrating tries she finally gave up and blamed my sister for not producing enough blood to be tested. I thln told the nurse that the instrument may be malfunctioning and to stop pricking my sister! The next day the hospice called to say that the instrument was malfunctioning and would send someone out as soon as they could locate another one. Several days later someone showed up, drew blood on the first prick. Her medicationneeded to be changed. My sister has only a couple of weeks left to live. The past weeks with Seasons have been so stressful and unnecessarily painful for her. I have had to bathe her in bed because she is too heavy for me to lift because of extreme water retention. She feels dirty. This is no way to die!!! I complained daily to seasons that they needed to stop the chaos and take care of business to no avail - just promises that they didn't keep. They are paid 100% by medicare as are all hospices yet their service is so bad that i would call it disgraceful! To treat the dying in such a way is downright sinful! It is clear seasons is just a business out for the medicare payments and does not provide what they are paid for. I have since signed up with CC Young Hospice and my sister has finally found some peace in her final days. Avoid this place at all costs!
