Back Porch Oyster Bar

I went with my husband to the Back Porch Oyster Bar. The people were friendly and attentive. However, the food was uneventful and overpriced. We ordered from the dinner menu and no bread or salads were given with the meals. I ordered the crab cakes (and I do know that lump crab is expensive so when the price was $31.00 I thought, "these are going to be great!". ) They were unremarkable. served with six skinny asparagus sprigs, and I asked for coleslaw instead of mash potatoes. The coleslaw was what I might call a dollop. The meal felt incomplete. Especially, as we spent $60.00. I give it two stars because the service was great and the place was clean. But I was disappointed in the food. And stunned by the price.

Having rented a mountain cabin for a few days, My wife and I ventured into the lovely community of Dahlonega. Looking for a place to eat, we ended up in the Back Porch Oyster bar...The service was excellent and the rustic décor was fine. The food was mediocre at best was way overpriced. I had the fish and chips...the beer battered fish tasted as if it had been frozen, the fries and slaw were average. It was something you might expect at Captain Dees, certainly not worth the $24 I paid for it....and my wife's crab cakes were tasteless, the asparagus was good, the coleslaw average...not nearly worth the $31 dollars I paid. Do yourself a favor and skip this place, Captain D's is right around the corner.

A family run business like they invited you into their home. Top quality fresh seafood prepared perfectly with gourmet recipes. You must try the ceviche. Ask for Lee or Trish, they are your five star hosts.
