- Jim's Transmission Service was started in 1958 by Robert James (Jim) Currier Sr. in a small garage on Cuyahoga Falls Ave. in Akron. He moved the shop in 1962 into the building pictured to the left, which was located on North Main St. next to the current Alexander Body Shop in the North Hill area of Akron. Jim Jr. is the current owner of the shop. Two of Jim's sons, Max and Dan, currently also work at the shop, continuing the tradition of a family owned and operated business. Our current state of the art facility features 17 service lifts, the latest in diagnostic and testing equipment, and has a fully equipped machine shop for torque converter rebuilding.

AT THE SAME TIME. THEY TOOK A LOOK AT MY CAR, ROAD TESTED, AND CAME BACK WITH THE PROBLEM AND THE SOLUTION. THERE PRICE WAS VERY REASONABLE AND THEY KEPT THEIR WORD. Questionable service, Worse mistake..
After receiving my car back the transmission worked great for about 3 months. The trans was completely rebuilt. The trans started leaking from the case. I took my car back to the shop. All I got was the negative comments about are you certain we rebuilt your transmission? At that point I asked for the owner and showed the original receipt. I still got the same non-sense answers (we only guaranteed the trans for 6 months & so on). Since then I have heard the same story from others during coffee shop conversations in the area. I highly do not recommend using Jim & Sons for any service they provide, period.

I've taken my car to various places to get my car repaired including Vandevere Auto Service for months for transmission work. They couldn't not get the job done nor pay attention to the customer. Jim & Sons understand the english language. They were able to fix the car and use a third party warranty to get the job done.

I have used Jim and Sons for the last 30 yrs. and have never had a regret. The service is excellent at a fair price. The people are courteous and answer any questions. They keep you updated if there are problems and always
confirm any work to be done. They are in their third generation running the business and I hope there are many more generations to follow.

I am very satisfied with the work Jim & Sons Transmission does on my car.
They are honest, and I know they test drive my car after their work.
The transmission flush is done in 2 hours.
They put a sticker on the windshield to help me remember when the next flush is due, and they are willing to help me understand the mechanics of my car.
230,000 miles and still ticking!

I took my car to Jim & Sons for transmission work and just want to say what a great job they did! Max Currier was extremely courteous, answered all of my questions and did a great job of explaining the work they were going to do. My car was fixed on time and for the price that was quoted. They did a great job of keeping me informed of the progress and when the work would be completed. I would highly recommend their service. My car is running great again - Thanks Jim & Sons!
