Primary Care
Magna cum laude with a B.S. in Nursing. Following graduation, she began working at East Tennessee Children’s Hospital as a Registered Nurse on the inpatient surgery unit. After a few years of experience, she then completed her MSN with a concentration in pediatric primary care. She completed clinical training in Knoxville and at Plateau Pediatrics.
Male Infertility
Before the vaccine, America experienced 500,000 cases of measles annually. 150,000 of those developed pneumonia or croup, 48,000 required hospitalization, 7,000 had seizures, 4,000 developed encephalitis (brain infection), and 1,000 had permanent brain damage or deafness. Similarly, mumps can cause male infertility and encephalitis, and rubella can cause severe brain damage to unborn babies whose mothers contract the disease.
Emergency Care
Good news: coronavirus usually causes just mild illness in children. The most common symptoms are fever and cough. Many children have no symptoms at all. Like all viruses, there is no treatment that our clinic (or emergency rooms/urgent care clinics) can provide to speed the healing process. Even if you think your child may have coronavirus, you probably WILL NOT need to visit our clinic.

Brooke Wright, RN, CPNP, was born and raised in Crossville. Her mother, who is also a nurse, inspired her to pursue a career in nursing from a young age. She has always loved children and knew she wanted to work in pediatrics. She graduated from Stone Memorial High School and then attended Tennessee Technological University, where she graduated with her Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing in 2015. She worked in Labor and Delivery and the Newborn Nursery at Cumberland Medical Center for 4 years.

Internal Medicine
Dr. Robert Berman is a native of Chattanooga, Tennessee. Dr. Berman was first introduced to medicine by the example of his grandfather, the late Dr. William G. Stephenson, a general surgeon who practiced at Erlanger Hospital for many years. After graduating from the McCallie School, Dr. Berman attended Rice University and received a B.A. in linguistics. He then proceeded to the University of Tennessee, Memphis College of Medicine where he obtained his M.D. degree. Dr. Berman completed his combined Internal Medicine/Pediatrics residency in Springfield, Illinois at Southern Illinois University. He is a physician board certified in pediatrics.

Autism
The same basic principle holds with vaccines. For instance, some children who got a Measles-Mumps- Rubella (MMR) vaccine were later diagnosed with autism. But that alone doesn't tell us whether the vaccine caused the autism. If you substitute "ate a bologna sandwich" with "got an MMR vaccine" and substitute "fell out of a tree" with "was diagnosed with autism" you can look at 1000 children who got the MMR vaccine to see if they had more autism than some group of 1000 children who didn't get the MMR vaccine. That should give you a pretty good answer of whether the MMR vaccine really caused the autism, or if it was more like the bologna and the tree, two events that really happened to the same child, without one causing the other.

Dr. Lauren graduated from Cumberland County High School. She then attended The University of Tennessee-Knoxville. She graduated with a B.A. in Audiology with a Minor in Psychology. She was a member of Student Government, Mortar Board, The Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology Professional Society, and Delta Delta Delta Sorority. She was a Sports Medicine Intern for the UT Athletic Department working with Men’s Football and Basketball, and became a UT Letterman.
Physical Therapy
Probably not. While helmets for misshapen heads were commonly used in the past, new research suggests they are often not necessary. Taking in all the evidence, most doctors recommend conservative treatment (repositioning and physical therapy) for mild to moderate asymmetry and helmet therapy for more severe asymmetry.
