Overall

Management are liars. We submitted an application for a 1st floor apartment, we were quoted a good rate, when we called to check on the status of the application, we were told a completely different rate from what was originally quoted in writing. When we confronted them about what was quoted in writing and asked for the application fee back we were told no. This place is a bunch of money grabbing thieves.

Overall

Worst apartment complex we have ever dealt with. My husband subleased an apartment at Island Villa last year. He took over a previous tenants lease for the remainder of 6 months. Prior to moving in, the apartment wasn't cleaned. When speaking with their leasing associate, Cheyenne, she told him not complete a move in notice because it was a sublease and the apartment was not cleaned. We should have known better.

After putting in his notice and moving out approximately 2 weeks prior to the end of the lease, we received his final account statement. Mind you, we completely cleaned the apartment even though this was not done for us when he moved in. The account statement listed an additional charge for stove and fridge cleaning - both of which were not cleaned upon his move in. In addition, they showed a balance for the two months worth of water, sewer, and trash fees. We had already sent in a check for the balance that was due, but then they said they couldn't find the check. So they told me I better complete a stop payment just in case it shows up and they accidentally deposit it. Mind you there is another fee I would have to pay for that.

So I called and spoke to Vanessa. She told me that they should have pictures and that she would email me. She also told me that I would get a call back from the manager in regards to the check they couldn't locate as well as the fee that should not have been on our statement. A week passed.

I called them back to follow up. Another associate answered and then transferred me to who I thought was the manager. She said that it was policy to require a move in statement and that the girl who told us not to (Cheyenne) was no longer there and she could not get in touch with her to confirm. After I continue to question her on the fee that we were charged as well as why we needed to pay for items that weren't cleaned upon move in, she said that I would need to talk to Tammy. I then asked if Tammy was the manager. She said that Tammy was her assistant. I then looked at the account statement and saw that Tammy was in fact the manager. I questioned her and she said "Look I just told you who I was. What else do you need to know?" She told me to call back Tuesday when Tammy was back. Not sure why she couldn't handle it if she's the manager. Shouldn't she have access to the pictures and the ability to handle this issue in a professional manner?

I'll be giving them a call back Tuesday and posting an update on Yelp as well as Google and any other forum I can find.

Short version: Don't move here. Management is horrible. Maintenance takes at least 3 days to show up and then they don't even fix the issue. You just have to keep calling them. Management doesn't take care of their tenants. They are truly just there to charge you for whatever they possibly can.
