Dr. John Alan Carmichael, MD

Dr. Carmichael was my doctor until recently. He was my Mother's doctor before her passing and is still my Father's doctor (age 92). During a 3 to 4 week period in January of 2018 I had the flu and pneumonia. I was very ill. My husband took care of me with the help of Dr. Carmichael. After a bad reaction to an antibiotic, I was put on a 10 day antibiotic. During this time, my husband cancelled my regularly scheduled appt. on the 10th of Jan. because I was in the doctors office for a chest x-ray and breathing treatment on the 8th of January. My husband and I thought I was to complete the antibiotic for ten days, then return for a follow-up chest x-ray. Before the 10 day treatment was over, I received a "Treatment Non-Compliance" letter. Having no idea what this letter meant, I called Dr. Carmichael for an explanation. He would not speak to me. No one in his office would talk to me about the letter. I continued calling to speak directly to the doctor but my calls would not be put through. The letter I received basically stated that Dr. Carmichael would no longer serve as my physician nor would any other doctor at Thomas-Spann Clinic, P.A. I am totally baffled. What kind of doctor does this over a cancelled appointment? What kind of doctor refuses to speak to you one on one? I sent a registered letter to Dr. Carmichael asking him to please explain the letter to me. He did not respond! I am writing this review to save someone else from having to go through this. I expected so much more from my personal doctor. Not even a phone call was worth his time. If there is more to this, I will never know.
