Camden Miramar at Texas A & M University

I advise to really do a lot of research prior to signing a lease with this company. The pro of being close to campus isn't all it's cracked up to be. You will pay up to $150 for a parking spot on top of your monthly rent - that $150 will easily cover the gas to drive from a complex on Ennis Joslin to campus, plus you will save about $400 a month by not renting there and won't have to move out because you aren't taking summer classes. The pressure to get you to sign a lease 6 months prior to moving in is with the statement that they fill up fast and you will be left out. This is not true, you have plenty of time and a TON of options and better places to live that aren't bug infested or poorly maintained with the "oh well, we already have your money and signature" attitude when you call with a problem. The zero regard to struggling college students turned me completely off and I feel they take advantage of the unknowing kid whose trying to make it their first year there. Have a problem with a roommate, to bad - you signed a lease and for a fee they can transfer you ... maybe. Cancel a lease months prior to moving in and a week after signing it and you are also charged a ridiculous fee with threats of collection agengy if not paid immediately. My daughter shared an apartment with a person who for 3 months had her boyfriend living there, rent free, sharing one bathroom and the uncomfortableness of the whole situation was beyond anything that I would have spent money on, but you're stuck once you sign unless you have stupid money to get yourself out and into a new place. We attempted to resolve the problems and even asked to get out of the following years committment before her first year was completed. The place that she signed for hadn't even been built at the time, actually ground hadn't even been broken on it yet. We were told basically that it's unfortantune but the $500 cancellation fee still applies and when we cancelled we would be sent a bill and if it wasn't paid within 30 days they would turn it over to collections. I really feel that this is unreasonable and unethical business practices, the advantage taken over these students by outsiders is amazing and then you add a place that is supposed to be connected to Texas A&M on top of it, the place that they dreamed for years of attending is doing the same thing to them? Wow ... Lesson learned bigtime on this one.

Filthy, horrible, nasty! Do not allow your student to live here. Not a customer friendly business at all. Dated furnishings as well as animal and bird feces covering everything! Beware when they get you locked into that lease
